Today marks the start of LGBT2Q+ History Month! All too often the history we see is that of the US but how much do you know about the amazing and rich queer history in Canada. We have had our own moments of resistance and defiance, turning points, celebrated firsts in our community and fought as fiercely for our rights. Throughout the month we will be posting information on some of the moments in time and people who have shaped our community throughout the decades. ... In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the survivors of the Residential School System and those who never made it home. In addition to wearing an orange shirt today to show support, we encourage folks to also educate themselves and promote awareness about the impacts of the residential school system and its lasting effects on Indigenous people today. Today, we reaffirm for survivors that they matter. We listen, we remember, we honour their survival against all odds. Every child matters. It takes a community to ensure no one goes hungry and we are sending so much queer love to everyone who has worked with us to ensure that folks in our Queer community have access to food. Over the past two weeks alone, QE's Food for Queers program has delivered over 70 grocery kits!!! We want to say a great big thank you to Atlohsa Family Healing Services and Alaaxiimwiing, Nuts For Cheese, Urban Roots London, Anderson Craft Ales, Megan Watson and the London F...ood Bank for their invaluable help and contributions. We also want to say thank you to all the individuals who have contributed to the program and our volunteer drivers who have covered every end of the city to deliver food! #foodforqueers #queerevents #qe #covid19 #food #community #ldnont #queer #lgbt2q

A heartfelt queer Thank you! to Urban Roots London, who just dropped off some locally grown fresh produce to help fill grocery kits going out for tomorrow's round of deliveries. They are an amazing non-profit that works to revitalize underused land and produce sustainably grown food. They have partnered with us to help provide fresh veggies for grocery kits distributed across London to LGBT2Q+ folks in our community who need them. Show them some love and check o...ut their farmergate market! It's a great way for folks to access fresh, nourishing food grown right here in the Forest City. They are also offer great socially distant volunteer opportunities on their farm in London. @urbanrootsldnont #urbanrootslondon #foodforqueers #lgbt #queer #queerevents #qe #lgbt2q #growlocal #eatlocal #farmfresh #localproduce #urbanfarming #sustainable #community #ldnont #yxu
Tonight's Trans & GNC Social Chat has been cancelled due to some classic London internet problems. (What is up with that? ) See everyone on the 19th instead!
Queer Events and House of Anansi are in solidarity with the Black Queer Network - London Ontario and the Indigenous Queer & 2 Spirit Network. In this time of social change, we as a society are speaking out and pushing back against injustices that have been allowed to go on for too long. The LGBT2Q+ community in London is not exempt from this. We echo the call from the Black Queer Network and we ask all of our allies, members of our community and partners to also speak out in... solidarity. To support the voices of the LGBT2Q+ BIPOC community. To end the silence. There is no neutral stance. You either support the voices of the BIPOC community and calls for change or your silence enables the ongoing bullying, silencing, abuses of power and erasure of BIPOC voices in our community. We echo the call for a revisioning of queer community. #revisioncommunity #wearehere #queerangerisqueerpower #prideisamovementnotafestival #standwithbipoc #thefutureisinclusive #wegotyourback
