This week, VON Canada joins the health care community and countless others in recognizing the dedication of nurses across Canada. This image from the Canadian N...urses Association (CNA-AIIC) shows how nurses play a role in many areas home care, military, acute care, public health and in policy, too. Nurses have adapted to many changes in how they provide care this past year. Canadians everywhere are grateful to nurses for their compassionate care and for keeping our communities safe and healthy. Greetings, Everyone, As a ‘flashback’ from years past, we are again sharing this Mother’s Day Message in the hope that you will Remember and Honor all our Mothe...rs, Step-Mothers, God-Mothers and ‘Mother Figures’ around the world. If you still have your mother, grandmother, godmother, or mother figure in your life, cherish her and let her know how much you love her while you still can. If your mother has ‘gone Home,’ know that she is amongst the hosts of Angels and Ancestors that watch over and protect us every year, month, day, hour and second! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY SHARE WITH EVERYONE, and ENJOY THE MUSIC! Sincerely, Felita and Robert Clark Oakland, CA *************************************** A Poem for ALL the Mothers around the world Somebody's Mother The woman was old and ragged and gray, and bent with the chill of the winter's day. The street was wet with the recent snow, and the woman's feet were aged and slow. She stood at the crossing and waited long alone, uncared for amid the throng of human beings, who passed her by, nor heeded the glance of her anxious eye. Down the street with laughter and shout, glad in the freedom of "school let out," came the boys like a flock of sheep, hailing the snow piled white and deep. Past the woman so old and gray, hastened the children on their way, nor offered a helping hand to her, so meek, so timid, afraid to stir. Lest the carriage wheels or the horses' feet should crowd her down in the slippery street. At last came one of the merry troop, The gayest laddie of all the group. He paused beside her and whispered low, "I'll help you across, if you wish to go." Her aged hand on his strong young arm She placed, and so, without hurt or harm, He guided her trembling feet along, Proud that his own were firm and strong. Then back again to his friends he went. His young heart, happy and well content. "She's somebody's mother, boys, you know, for all she's aged and poor and slow; "And I hope some fellow will lend a hand to help my mother, you understand, if ever she's poor and old and gray, when her own dear boy is far away." And "somebody's mother" bowed low her head. In her home that night, and the prayer she said was, "God be kind to the noble boy, who is somebody's son and pride and joy." ~ Anonymous ******************************** A few Mothers’ Day quotes: Zora Neale Hurston: Mama exhorted her children at every opportunity to 'jump at de sun.' We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground. Tenneva Jordan: A mother is a person, who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. Honore de Balzac: The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness. Sophia Loren: When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. Marguerite Duras: For that's what a woman, a mother wants to teach her children to take an interest in life. She knows it's safer for them to be interested in other people's happiness than to believe in their own. Irish Proverb: A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest. ******************************** Some Mothers’ Day Songs: I’ll Always Love My Momma The Intruders https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RmJJn6NnJE A Song For Mama - Boyz II Men (with lyrics) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8KnHK1NskY Better Days - Dianne Reeves (with lyrics) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3j8L6wKpQA No Charge Pastor Shirley Caesar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ-uahV6hAY Gone Too Soon - Michael Jackson (with lyrics) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBFr43vQiSM
