Harvesting sunflowers during a blustery and rainy September week! Thankful that we didn’t lose too many. Assistant Grower Quik's Farm Ltd. is a wholesale cut flower grower based in Chilliwack, BC, with over 20 acres of indoor growing space and 20 acres of seasonal outdoor. Quik’s Farm is geared towards the intense production of cut Chrysanthemums, Oriental Lilies, and Alstromeria, utilizing state of the art growing systems and leading edge technology to produce high quality products for our diverse customer base throughout Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest USA. Currently... there is a full time position available for an assistant grower. This position is ideal for an energetic person that wants to learn about horticulture and advance their career in this industry. Responsibilities o Assist the Head Grower with all aspect of growing such as, pest control, scouting, irrigation, climate control and lighting o Preparing beds for planting programs and seeding trays for propagation. o Care of Motherplants including, cutting, picking, irrigation, weed control and cleaning of bays o Monitoring crops: assist with the crop walks for scouting of pests, diseases, or viruses, and ensuring optimum yield is achieved, with a preliminary focus in mother stock and propagation o Performing spray applications, filling fertilizer recipes, and programing irrigation cycles o Assist the Head Grower with shipping flowers to various locations and clients o Ensure and perform proper cleanliness and hygienic measures o Help with production as necessary o Learn to use the computerized climate control systems Qualifications o Minimum of 1-2 years experience in nursery industry (floriculture/horticulture) an asset. o Tractor and forklift experience o Excellent verbal and written communication in English o Must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle o Intermediate skills with Microsoft office suite of products Please apply by sending your resume via email to [email protected], or in person to our head office located on 8340 Prest Road, Chilliwack, BC.
