Give this dumbbell quikcircuit a try! Quikcircuits are when you complete multiple exercises back to back without rest. Quikcircuits can utilize full body movement, spreading the work over the whole body allowing you burn more calories in less time! Let’s start this circuit at 8 reps for each exercise. If you want to build more muscle: Progress this circuit by keeping reps the same but gradually add more weight every couple weeks for 3-5 rounds ... If you want to get leaner without putting on size: Progress this circuit by using the same weight and increasing the reps by one each week for 3-5 rounds. Yes, I could have definitely run on a treadmill that week but hiking outdoors is a completely different and beneficial workout. Here’s why ... The sheer force of power required to navigate new and irregular surfaces with every step unleashes a tidal wave of neurochemicals that accelerate brain-building. Studies show this infrastructure can accelerate learning, boost serotonin and inoculate your body from stress and anxiety. Could exercise be a missing link to some of the problems that we face? It’s not far-fetched. A lot of the medications we use today to treat anxiety and depression were reverse engineered from studying the human brains response to exercise. Perhaps if we can make time for the activities that we know make us feel good and happy, we can slowly rebuild a connection to our ability to self heal. Outdoor exercise just may be the ounce of prevention we are looking for.
