Mug rug challenge - Pick out a mug and design a mug rug to match. Then bring in to the guild meeting to exchange. Another one off the frame! This king size quilt was much too big to fit in one photo, so here is the beautiful centre. Ok, Sorry I have been so quiet recently. Life happened, and then once I got back to the longarm, most quilts I quilted I couldn't share with you. But yay I get to share this one! This was my entry into the @ancastermqg mini mod circles challenge last night. I modeled this off a vintage colour mixing chart after I found a charm pack of bright rainbow colours. I then used techniques learned from Al Cote and The Singing Quilter, by layering my fabric and batting, quilting it all together, and then cutting out the fabric to make the pattern appear. Foolishly I had started working on it at 9 PM the previous night, and being eye twitchingly exhausted my bra...in thought I could get a 6 inch circle out of a 5 inch square . I didnt realize until I went to cut it out in the morning that my circles were not complete, and that I would have exposed batting in my mini quilt. It may not be perfect, but every time I see this mini it makes me smile so I don't plan on changing it, just making another one with a layer cake instead.
