We’d like to share this week’s Artist of The Week, Lucille Lavender. From the first moment we met Lucille, we were inspired by her desire to pursue quilting! We have enjoyed seeing all of her projects since and are very impressed with her progress. Enjoy learning more about this amazing quilter! When I was a little girl, my mom had a hand pieced quilt that she kept on the spare bed. I used to sit on the quilt and try to figure out how it was put together. Fast forward 45 ...years to last fall when one of my cousins posted, on Facebook, a few on her quilting projects. I asked her where she learned and she told me that she had taken a beginners quilting course from Quilters Dream, and suggested that I take the same class. So I signed up for the course starting January 2020. What a revelation! All of a sudden I was shown the secrets of putting the pieces together to create all the shapes and squares of that old quilt. And I fell deeply for quilting. It is like doing your own jigsaw puzzle with colours and pieces that you choose. Then CoVid hit. And all I had was time. Each new quilt top is my very own puzzle. Quilting has become the best part of my day!
