Dear Clients and Friends of Quinte Midwives, As we move into the holiday break and into a province-wide lockdown, we ask for the following cooperative measures: 1. Please continue to come alone to appointments and wear a mask throughout your visits. If you answer yes to any of the screening questions, please do not come to your appointment. Call the clinic and we will reschedule your appointment or conduct a phone visit with you.... 2. Please do not have visitors from outside your household, especially from typical red or grey zones. Your midwife provides care to many families in our clinic, the hospital, and the community; we ask that you help us keep all of our families safe by self-isolating as much as possible and minimizing contacts for your midwife. 3. During home visits, we ask that everyone in your household wear a mask, or remain in another room, for the duration of your visit. If anyone in your household is unwell, please notify your midwife prior to the visit and we will make other arrangements for your visit. Thank you for cooperation in taking care of our community. We wish you a happy holiday break and jolly new year!

This is why it can seem like your baby has too many limbs and can kick in so many directions at once!

We would like to give a deeply heartfelt thank you to everyone who has so generously provided Quinte Midwives with gowns, caps, masks, ear savers, and face shields to help us get through the Covid-19 pandemic. To all of you who sewed, crocheted, and 3D printed PPE for us, we couldn't do this without you. This crisis has brought out the absolute best in our community, and your acts of kindness have proven that we will all get by with a little help from our friends. Please know how much we appreciate you, and we wish you and your families good health and much happiness. Stay safe and know that your hard work is doing the same for us. <3

Dear clients of Quinte Midwives, In accordance with the mandate from the Hastings and Prince Edward County Health Unit, and effective today, everyone presenting in our clinic will now be required to wear a mask for the duration of their visit. If you have your own mask, please bring it to your visit. If you do not have a mask, we have a small supply available at the entrance to our clinic. We continue to request that you clean your hands at the hand sanitizing station inside... our front door upon entering the building. Laurie will also continue to actively screen all clients coming for their appointment. Upon leaving, you may remove your mask and leave it in the pail provided for proper laundering or you may keep it for your own personal use in the community and at future visits. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to stop the spread of COVID-19 and adhering to our Public Health mandate.

June 19, 2020 - With our current low community prevalence of COVID-19, we’ve made significant changes to our visiting policy that will allow us to welcome addit...ional care partners back into our hospitals. We appreciate the invaluable role that care partners play in supporting family members and friends who are patients in our hospitals. Please review our revised visiting statement before coming to our hospitals. https://www.qhc.on.ca/visiting-hours-p12.php See more

Quinte Midwives acknowledges the impact of anti-BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour) racism on the health and well-being of our BIPOC clients, families, and communities. We also recognize that institutionalized racism has a significant negative impact on the health, safety, and well-being of members of the BIPOC communities for whom we care and work alongside. Quinte Midwives pledges our ongoing commitment to unlearning, challenging and dismantling all systems of oppr...ession. We will confront white supremacy by recognizing how we as people with white privilege benefit from an unjust system. All members of Quinte Midwives will participate in anti-BIPOC racism education, and complete a thorough anti-oppressive and race-based analysis of all our policies and procedures. As well, we commit to continually educating ourselves, and working towards racial justice. We will use our privilege to amplify and centre BIPOC voices, and speak out against racial violence, in comment or actions, whether intentional or unintentional. We will actively support local BIPOC organizations working towards racial justice. Specifically, we whole-heartedly endorse this call from Black health leaders to confront white supremacy and address anti-Black racism, including by declaring anti-Black racism a public health crisis: https://www.allianceon.org//Statement-Black-health-leaders
