Speaking out about Islamophobia as a medical student should not result in disciplinary action. Yet, this appears to be what is happening at the Memorial Univers...ity of Newfoundland's Faculty of Medicine. Together with the Canadian Women in Medicine (CWIM), NCCM issued a letter to the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools, as well as to the Association of Faculties of Medicine, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the College of Family Physician of Canada today. The letter asked for what the procedure of the accreditation committee are in relation to the circumstances currently taking place at MUN. The RIS conference is a Canadian Muslim youth initiative that showcases leadership from across the globe from various backgrounds and schools of thought, united and joining hands to promote peace, tolerance, intellectual growth, and introspection. This convention, one of the larger Muslim convention in North America with 25,000 attendees, has provided a healthy platform for dialogue and bridge-building.
