When we first started to bring in wine an agent told me that Merlot was killed by the movie Sideways. He went on to say that when he asked people what they wanted in a wine they would tell him all the characteristics of a nice Merlot. When he told them that what they were looking for was a Merlot - they would say absolutely not! All because of this movie. It's nice to see that the grape has finally scratched its way back to acceptance. I would argue that since it has been overlooked for so long, its time to head out and buy some quality Merlots.
