Another 135 m3 of Lafarge ready-mix landed in Nudura ICF’s yesterday, expertly placed with the help of the big 60m pump from Wuis Brothers by the crew at R&M Smith Contracting, all while Cambium performed methodical QA concrete materials testing. This has us officially finished pouring all below-grade building foundations! Central Steel Works delivered our fabricated steel lintels, which when placed will support the Core Slab floor panels that are to be delivered and instal...led later this month. Drain Bros wrapped up the week with the placement of asphalt paving on Leahy’s Lane, which will no doubt keep our neighbor's and friends at the City of Peterborough happy as winter approaches. Next week, while the R&M Smith crew returns to remove dunnage & braces, Nusite Contracting will return to apply additional below grade Naturaseal foundation waterproofing, Doug Recker and his crew will return to carry on with under slab plumbing rough-ins in the basement, and Drain Bros will once again return to carry on with the placement of socked Big O drainage weeping tile, clear stone, and imported clean backfill.

Hard to believe anyone would turn up here at site in the early morning freezing cold dark hours this past Monday morning as the Weather Channel reported it was feeling like -10C with the brisk wind. But the construction crews did just that; Drain Bros, alongside Wuis Bros, started carefully placing weepers & clear stone, and backfilling portions of the building foundation, while Nusite Contracting carried on to complete the required below grade Natura seal waterproofing & dr...ainage board. Later in the week, plumbing Contractor Doug Recker and his crew worked to install elevator & storm sump chambers, as well as main sanitary trunk lines in the basement corridors. The R&M Smith crew returned today to carry on with stacking the remaining below-grade Nudura ICF wall forms, while Drains wrapped up Backfill (for now) and the guys from Balterre worked to tie in the ADS Storm tech system to the storm drains. Randy D. from Mariposa Electric rounded out the week with installing some new overhead LED security safety lighting supplied by City Electric at our main site entry gate, as clocks have now fallen back and we both arrive and depart site in darkness. Looking ahead to next week, it’s pretty much the R&M Smith Show, with the guys readying the ICF forms for our next Lafarge Readi-mix pour.

As we wrap up October, the team had yet another strong showing here this week with lots of activity from a host of people. Monday brought the full crew from R&M Smith to site to pour 126m3 of concrete from Lafarge into the below grade Nudura ICF walls, all expertly pumped by Wuis Bros under the watchful eye of Cambium testing & inspection services. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, better weather returned, along with crews from R & M Smith carrying on with ICF wall building, as... well as crews from waterproofing contractor Nusite to apply the Naturaseal waterproofing. Mariposa Electric prepped and placed sleeves for the future incoming hydro, bell, and cable services that will be trenched into the building next Spring. Looking ahead to next week, Drain Bros / Balterre will be back on site full force starting Monday morning with men, trucks & heavy equipment to place Big O weepers, clear stone, and commence large scale partial backfill operations, while plumber Doug Recker and his crew are back to place sump pails and more below slab piping.

Hope everyone is enjoying a last blast of beautiful summer weather this afternoon - if only it would hang around for another month (or three) lol. Good Progress continues at the Habitat For Humanity MUR job site on Leahy’s Lane. R&M Smith’s Crew worked right on thru some of the nasty wet weather we endured earlier this past week stacking block and placing reinforcing steel. And the guys from Drain Bros/Balterre prepped and placed new concrete curbs on Leahy’s Lane. A look a...head for the coming week has lots of activity lined up. Structural Engineer Mike Davenport has inspected work this afternoon, and so Monday, Wuis Bros, LaFarge and the Smith Crew will be on site pouring the first half of our below grade NUDURA ICF foundation walls. Later in the week, Nusite Contracting will be applying the waterproofing membrane to the new walls, while Smith crew moves ahead with stacking more insulated concrete form block. See more

Strong week for progress yet again here at the Habitat MUR project site. We received all of our DOW under slab foam insulation, as well as our first delivery from NUDURA ICF - truck 1 of many more to follow. After neatly stripping all footing formwork, R&M Smith Contracting began stacking ICF block and placing rebar as they work their way through constructing all below grade reinforced concrete foundation walls. ... Drain Bros/Balterre commenced reparations of Leahy’s Lane asphalt paving in areas that were required to be removed for underground utility connections. Enjoy a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. Onward & Upward!

Big week here on site at the Habitat for Humanity Condominium Project on Leahy’s Lane, Peterborough as the Calendar page flipped to October. Long time local firm R&M Smith Contracting took full advantage of good weather. Dave Smith and his hard working crew put in some long hours to finish footing formwork ahead of schedule. Nusite Contractors wrapped up the blind-side waterproofing on the underside of the elevator pad. After successful inspection by the City Inspector and structural engineer Mike Davenport, the green light was given for today’s footing pour. 90 cubic metres of concrete was delivered by LaFarge, and pumped by Wuis Bros,
