Are you interested in learning more about boosting your fertility with food? Keep reading! What you eat forms the building blocks of your egg or sperm. Healthy eating is an essential part of promoting hormone health and balance. Quality foods support mental health (which is essential to your fertility) and physical health. Eating a diet that is as toxin free as possible is also a big part of fertility Organic is preferred as pesticides have an impact on hormone levels and f...ertility. Eating a wide variety of fresh fruits & veggies, whole grain foods that support blood sugar balance, quality protein that is rich in choline (eggs, quinoa, beans, lentils, etc.) lean and rich in omega-3 fats (follow mercury recommendations for pregnancy) is important. Protein is very important!! You’ll also want to make sure you are eating good quality fats as our hormones are produced by fats. Unsaturated fats are best including avocado, walnut, seeds, other nuts & olive. Dairy can be eaten as well although if eaten it should be organic and your personal health considerations should be considered as diary can interfere with hormones in certain cases. In any case, avoid a diet high in sugar, processed foods, trans-fats. Keep your diet varied and with plenty of variety to prevent getting bored and to ensure a broad array of nutrients and anti-oxidants. For men, foods rich in zinc are an essential part of boosting fertility. Foods rich in zinc includes shellfish, pumpkin seeds and other seeds, and legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, etc.). Sprouting, soaking or fermenting legumes increases the bioavailability of zinc. Selenium rich foods such as brazil nuts (only 1 a day needed!) will help promote sperm motility. Limiting alcohol is very essential to good sperm quality and healthy testosterone levels. Limiting soy is also to be considered. For women, limiting caffeine is a good idea. Avoid processed soy and eat whole soy products in moderation as it can impact fertility. Balancing blood sugar is very important to hormones so minimizing sugar intake and eating as unprocessed and whole grain as possible is very important. Foods that are rich in folate are also beneficial including legumes, eggs, leafy greens, beets, cooked broccoli, nuts & seeds and citrus. Diary might want to be avoided all-together as it can really disrupt hormone levels. Interested in working with me to figure out how to boost fertility naturally? Infertility is an increasing health concern among both men & women today. Infertility is often diagnosed when there has been failure to achieve clinical pregnancy after 12+ months of unprotected regular intercourse. Male infertility accounts for 40-50% of infertility in a couple. Increased risk of male infertility include: consumption of alcohol, cigarette smoking, advanced age, environmental toxins such as heavy metals/pesticides, certain drugs and hormone imbalance. Increas...ed risk of female infertility include: smoke, PCOS, excessive caffeine consumption, history of pelvic infection, advanced maternal age, stress, toxins, irregular ovulation, endometriosis and a high glycemic diet low in nutrients. Chronic stress has a massive impact on fertility due to its ability to imbalance hormones and even nutrients in the body. Today, I’d like to briefly touch on how homeopathy can support and enhance fertility and balance hormones. Homeopathy is a holistic natural medicine. It treats the whole person, which means that your mental, emotional and physical health issues are all a part of your homeopathic treatment. By using homeopathy we can help your body better deal with emotional and mental stress which in turn can promote better stress response and as a result balance hormones. It can also help promote regular cycles, boost/decrease hormones that are out of balance and even reduce other symptoms of hormone imbalance such as increased cramping, heavy bleeding, amenorrhea, breast tenderness, PMS & more. Homeopathy has been used safely alongside IVF and IUI and helps to increase success of these treatments. Homeopathy works exceptionally well in cases of unexplained infertility. Over the next few days I will share some other tips on how to balance hormones and boost fertility through nutrition, counselling, detoxification and elimination of toxins, acupuncture, supplementation and exercise. It can help completely eliminate pain without medications and restore you to normal function. Read a case of a 13 year male who struggled with chronic back pain after straining his back lifting that was unrelieved by physio or chiropractic care.
