Racquetball BC 24.10.2020

Racquetball Canada had temporarily moved the 2020 Junior and Senior nationals to September 2020 but they have now cancelled it for obvious reasons - most people are not yet back on the courts so cannot train, and the usual challenge of finding a club with enough courts (because the go-forward plan is to have juniors and seniors together). So .... wait and see for 2021. In the meantime, we are all hoping that more courts will be opening soon. Post here if your club opens!

In a non COVID world, we would be in Quebec today, day 2 of doubles, enjoying the Nationals. Check out racquetballcanada dot ca for their ideas about how to commemorate this Nationals week.

Cancellation of 2020 Canadian Racquetball Championships Considering ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus (COVID-19), and after consulting with our sport partners, the Racquetball Canada Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to CANCEL the 2020 Canadian Championships. This decision was taken to protect the health of our athletes, officials, volunteers and staff. At this time, we will also be rescheduling our Annual General Meeting to a date yet to be... determined. If we are able to proceed within the current season, it is our hope to hold a selection event to crown our Open 2020 Canadian Champions in singles and doubles events and select our National team. In the event it is not safe to proceed before the end of the current season, the National team will be selected using the two selection events that have already occurred. Racquetball Canada shares in the disappointment but hopes participants will understand that its decision is rooted in prioritizing the health and well-being of our Racquetball family. We look forward to planning our 2021 Canadian Championships and hope to see many of you there. Thank you for your understanding and support. Alberta and Ontario have both cancelled their April provincial championships, for health safety reasons. The National Championships are scheduled for Quebec in May; Racquetball Canada has put a hold on those Championships, pending developments over the next few weeks. Stay tuned and be healthy.

RIP Tevie Smith. You were funny and annoying and full of life, you always had a great story to share, and I looked forward to seeing you outside your place at Kits. I will remember you.

Hi all, The registration site is up and running for the 33rd annual Vancouver Island Y racquetball tournament, hosted by the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island, Feb 14-16, 2020: https://www.trackie.com//victoria-ymca-ywca-33rd-an/37801/... From January, Racquetball Canada will no longer be using the R2sports site to manage its tournaments. Instead all sanctioned tournaments will be run via a new system called Trackie. When you register for our tourney at the link above you'll need to create a login so you can access the entry for later edits and future tournaments (similar to R2). It's easy but if you have any issues let me know. Please register now! If you don't have a partner for doubles events yet - just leave that blank and you can edit later, or indicate that you need a partner and the director (Don Strugnell) will match you with someone. If you want to get in touch with Don about that his contact info is: 250-532-0440 (cell), 250-658-4346 (landline - no texts), [email protected] See you on the courts! Wade
