Dear neighbours, Today, we reached a critical milestone in our fight against COVID-19: the first COVID-19 vaccine has been approved by Health Canada. Health Ca...nada regulators have been working around the clock to complete a thorough and independent review of this vaccine This vaccine is safe and effective. We will now be moving forward with our plan to vaccinate Canadians. It will be important that Canadians get immunized and Canada has a thorough review system to ensure vaccines are safe and effective. The Minister of Health is working closely with international partners to share information about possible COVID-19 vaccines. We will NEVER put Canadians’ health and safety at risk. Our government is working hard to make sure Canadians will be able to get vaccinated when the time comes. Work is already well underway with the provinces and territories to create a distribution plan so Canadians can get vaccinated. Our approach has always been informed by science and evidence, and this is no different. Working with experts like the National Advisory Committee on Immunization and other public health experts, we’ll make sure that Canadians are safe from COVID-19. As Canadians face the second wave of this virus, and public health measures continue to evolve, we know that many employers are worried about being able to pay ...rent. Our Government is providing simple, easy-to-access commercial rent and mortgage support until 2021 to employers who have been affected by COVID-19. Through the new Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS), the hardest hit small businesses would receive a subsidy of up to 65%. We are also providing Lockdown Support of an additional 25% for businesses that are subject to a lockdown under mandatory public health orders. We've worked closely with small businesses, and the new CERS will be better targeted, easier-to-access, and go directly to small business tenants.
