Radio Somewhere Podcast 16.10.2020

Happy Love day!! I love, love! Don't you?? My present to you is episode 34 (!!!) of #RadioSomewhere! Leela of The Damn Truth says it best herself when she said "None of us want to do anything else in this world". That's how driven her and her family are to keep focused on this life of music they have.... The Damn Truth are based in Montreal, but have played all over Canada, and are now touring the US (plus performing on a rock cruise with heavy weights like Van Halen)! We chat about loving the life you've got, and the importance of re-creating your art in the process. It was such a pleasure having Leela on, as we discuss some of the things women deal with on a daily basis, and are STILL dealing with in 2018....ahem. She plays a rockin' tune at the end of the show, too (it's so gooooood) HUGE thanks to Leela for being on the podcast!! Check out The Damn Truth's latest record "Devilish Folk" and look out for the band this summer!! oh, and thanks for supporting Canadian music and Radio Somewhere! Get us on Spotify, itunes, and wherever else you get your podcasts! https://itunes.apple.com//po/radio-somewhere/id1188093321 xo GK

Episode 2, Season 2: Lisa and Kirsten are 2/6 of the band Fast Romantics. A Toronto based band of pals. I used to live across the street from Kirty, and Lisa and I were *Almost* in the same band, once. So glad the gals came by the living room to chat about the current landscape in the women's movement (aka, we're not taking shit anymore, hello!) and obviously we had to hash out the best Karaoke jams ever. ... Hang out until the end of the podcast to hear the latest tune from Fast Romantics "Get Loved" the social experiment / awesome tune. HUGE thanks to Kirty and Lisa, Fast Romantics, and YOU for rating, subscribing, and downloading the Radio Somewhere Podcast. oh, and thanks for supporting Canadian music! First episode of Season 2 is here!!!!! Avery Florence is one of the sweetest women I've met, and her Soft Soul music is so welcoming, you can't help but groove. She's a Montreal / Toronto based artist who is always learning, developing her craft, and is so excited about her music career it's infectious. We talk about how to stay creative (even when it feels like you can't) and how every day you discover something new in the world of music!... Hang out until the end cause she plays us an amazing tune Live in the Living Room! Check her out on tour, and click the link above to hear her songs, and videos that we talk about in the show. I had so much fun recording this podcast. Emily Rowed is so creative, the inspirational energy is infectious when you're around her. We talk her new record Electric Heart (out now), and she is kind enough to perform a tune "Live in the Living Room" at the end of the show. Since it's summertime when this podcast was recorded, we talk love, taking risks, and trying something new. ... This is the final episode of SEASON 1. There will be more Radio Somewhere podcast coming NEXT WEEK. Season 2 will be beginning. The Montreal Chapter. Thanks again for downloading, subscribing, and rating the Radio Somewhere Podcast! New Episode is up! Season 2 is coming! But in the mean time, I'm posting the last few episodes of Season 1 for your enjoyment! These are brand new episodes, while I'm interviewing more people for season two! Next up Shawnee Music! Shawnee is one of the most chill artists I've interviewed so far on Radio Somewhere. That doesn't mean she won't tell you what's on her mind thought. Intelligent, songwriting, powerful message, and the experience to know how music really is medicin...e. We talk her new song Warrior Heart (where she's donating all the processed to a rad cause), Figuring out there's more to the music industry than learning piano, and writing songs, and what it's like to really figure out the kind of artist you want to be. You'll hear the tune Warrior Heart at the end, but go pick it up as the money is being donated to a great cause. Thanks to Mavis, and Shawnee for being part of the Radio Somewhere Family! And thanks to YOU for rating, subscribing and downloading the Radio Somewhere Podcast! DL here: https://itunes.apple.com//po/radio-somewhere/id1188093321 Gina K #RadioSomewherePodcast

This week on #RadioSomewhere is my pal and and fellow cat lady Emy Stantcheva. Who is part of addicted magazine, and Music Ontario / CIMA. Had such a great time chatting with her. She is a compassionate person who cares about her cats, the decline of culture on Queen Street West (one of the most trendy neighbourhoods in Toronto), and of course music. She's one of the do-ers, affiliated with Addicted Mag (catch EP. 21 for more on that), Music Ontario and CIMA, she's full of kn...owledge about the inner workings of the Music industry and a wonderful gal to know, I'm so happy she joins us on Radio Somewhere! Also bit of a programming announcement: I'm speaking at the Business of Podcasting Panel at Ryerson University July 26th, and it totally free! Check out all the details here: https://www.meetup.com/Music-Technology-M/events/240992306/ Thanks again for supporting Radio Somewhere by downloading, subscribing and rating the show! Next week we feature Shawnee Music #Liveinthelivingroom!! Don't wanna miss it! xo

Hey Duders, This week features Robyn Dell'Unto! Composer, Producer and one of the most driven women I've ever met. She's got a new record out called Beaconsfield (link to her record below). I basically geek out about how much I love her song 'Common' so that's the one we play. We talk future dreams of no one knowing who you are, yet still having your songs plays for millions, and the pure joy that can come from taking a risk. HUGE thanks to Robyn for being on my podcast :) ...and to YOU for downloading, rating and subscribing the #RadioSomewhere podcast! This week on #RadioSomewhere it's Iduna!!! Special thanks to Jason and Trison of the band IDUNA for hanging out on the Radio Somewhere Podcast! We chat about what they have in common with Half Moon Run, how it's hard to be in a band as you get older, and how awesome it's been opening for 90's icons like Bif Naked and The Odds. (We opened for Bif Naked with them, and it was AMAZING, thank you Bif!!!). If you’re in Toronto - August 26th Iduna is playing the legendary Horseshoe... Tavern. See ya there!
