Happy Mother’s Day! We are currently hosting the evacuated residents due to flooding caused by the river break-up. As we were distributing meals at Urban Kitchen Table, we gave out flowers to all moms in celebration of Mother’s Day. #HappyMothersDay

I love the Radisson here in Fort McMurray, which is full of flood evacuees and where every available staff member has shown up to help despite the risks in our ...COVID-19 environment. In addition to keeping the building clean and safe, they are also feeding us. Supported by public donations of water and with funding from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, they are preparing three healthy meals a day for everyone including vulnerable seniors who have found shelter here. Tomorrow they are going to let Steve and I take some more photos from a safe distance and with gloves and masks of the community volunteers who are coming in to help. And a shout out to my friend Myrtle Coakley who made the mask I am wearing, and who dropped off a basket full of things we needed, including a home-made quilt. Fort McMurray is full of compassionate and giving people. See more
