November 21 & 22 we attended a horsemanship clinic put on by the Ponoka Ag Society. Thank you Laurie Montgomery for all your hard work planning and organizing the many clinicians and event it was great. Scott Phillips with Amazing Horse Country put on the horsemanship/obstacle clinic and we had blast introducing our horses for the first time to the variety of challenges he provided. I couldn’t add this video to the previous post so here it is. It took a try or two to get her to realize she could go right thru this tarp but once she realized it she did great.

September 27 this girl came home with us to stay! She is now my girl and we have a special bond that Joan E Cliffe and I share. November 21 & 22 Kevin and I decided to take a clinic that the Ponoka Ag Society put on. Thank you Laurie Montgomery for all your help planning and organizing the clinicians. ... We had the best time ever. Here’s a couple of videos of how Taylor and I did in the obstacles. She’s such a calm, easy going mare. 2021 is going to be a great year riding.

And I think the last to foal will be our newest mare Chicsfamousrocket (aka Chyk) x Nickster We don’t have any good or recent photos of Chyk so bare with me! This one was the day we brought her home Nov 7. I’m very excited to see this one hit the ground!!

5 Month old Reno By Reno’s Black Gambler and out of Sabrina Valentine getting his 3rd and final trimming here at Rafter H Ranch. Going to miss this guy but he’s got a great future in store for him in beautiful BC.

I think our daily visitor Meg is going to miss these colts when they leave.

Kindergarten class of 2020 has started. Reno, Nevaeh & Ruby all did great for their 2 hour tying lesson this morning. Eli & Willow aren’t enrolled to attend class for another month. If you look close at Nevaeh’s markings after she lost her baby hair it looks like she applied eye brow highlights for her first day of school.

2020 Red Road Filly Ruby is a very easy moving filly. She is light on her feet, effortlessly picks up speed, and covers a good amount of ground in her stride. Straight and correct. We would love to see her go to a performance home. Her momma was bred and raised at the Aaron Ranch in Texas and has some greats in her pedigree such as Blue Valentine and Gooseberry, both speed horses and multi event horses in their day. Her sire is our stallion, Renos Black Gambler, a distan...t son of Peppy San who throws good bone, size, and a gentle disposition with trainable minds. 2020 blue roan filly Willow is as pretty as they come, correctly made with a quiet mind and a friendly disposition. Her dam is Joe Quincy bred who was a talented calf horse, halter horse and proven ranch horse known to have sired great ranch and rodeo mounts. Willows sire is our stallion, Renos Black Gambler (distantly Peppy San bred), who throws good bone, foot, size, and trainable minds. Eli is the last foal we had in 2020. He is a son of Fix N To (x Dash Ta Fame) and out of our Easy Jet bred mare, Jett. He shows the same spunk as all of Jetts foals have had and is turning that gorgeous blue roan color. We would like to keep Eli back to get him started under saddle and to see how he matures as a future stud prospect.

This little gal captures the hearts of all who come to visit ! Her personality is loving and curious. Her confirmation is next to perfect. And her color is to die for! She’ll make someone a great performance/working horse.

"Willow" is just 3 months old and looking like a million bucks. She is the first foal out of our mare Quinn and sired by Renos Black Gambler. This cross blew us away! We are loving what we see in Willow, both conformation, mind and color. She is available for purchase, performance/using homes preferred. Please Pm for more info.

This beautiful filly is filling out really nicely and has some size. Her Dam stands 15.3 and you can see by the last photo that she will likely reach that same size. She is out of a daughter of our stallion Gambler and sired by A Streak Of Fame, a full brother to NFR qualifier Fame Fling N Bling. We think she is a nice cross of performance horse with the quiet, gentle and using nature of our stallion. "Neveah" may be our keeper filly.

Our second foal of the year and second red roan was this friendly little filly we affectionately call "Ruby". She is the first foal born to our mare Aarons Anita Hayes and we are really happy with this cross on Gambler. Ruby is kind, inquisitive and we expect her to make someone an easy and gentle mount. It doesn't hurt that she has a pretty little head and will have that gorgeous roan color that grabs some attention! She is available for purchase, a using or performance home is preferred. Shown below are Chelsea Nelson's pair of Gambler offspring. A 4 yr old gelding she describes as being "very cowy and athletic and as a 4 yr old he’s already the go to on our ranch for any job. He is also quiet enough for a kid or beginner to go for a trail ride on or check cows. We have started heading on him and he is showing lots of potential." Chelsea also has a 3yro gelding she states shares the same disposition and athleticism. He currently has about a month of riding on him and we are excited to hear updates on how he comes along! Chelsea recently purchased a weanling colt from us who we featured in a post yesterday. We love getting updates on Gambler offspring!

The other day we shared a few videos of Marty Maurice's 3yro red roan filly, "Poppy". Today we want to share a few updated pics of Poppy's full brother "Reno". By Renos Black Gambler and out of Sabrina Valentine. We are loving this cross! Reno will be headed west to BC come weaning time with Chelsea Nelson. Chelsea and her husband already have 2 Gambler babies, a 3 and 4 yro that they can't say enough good about. We are excited to see Reno join their team of using horses and are confident this big boy will fit right in on their family ranch.

Here’s some great photos by Mike capturing Marty and his 3 yr old Gambler daughter Poppy (she was called Prize in our past a Rafter H Ranch posts) where she calls home now on a big ranch in BC. Looks like he has a great handle on her already.

I think these foals are starting to think Meg’s just part of the herd. She also worked with yearling Keota and two year old Azul today. We are very lucky to have her around.
