Picture on the left was when Paulo first started, he said his weight was getting out of control and he doesn't know where to start or what to do. He was pushed by his co-workers. They placed a bet where he had to lose a certain amount of weight by September and they would give him $500 if he hit that goal. Not only did we smash that goal way before September, we kept going! . The difference in the 2 pictures is about 70 lbs! . It's amazing how powerful the mind can be whe...n you dedicate yourself to changing your life. . From eating out a lot of fast food to preparing meals. Of course he still goes out to eat! He just knows what to choose, and no he does not pick a salad... but meals high in protein! . Cheat Meals vs Cheat Days. What is the difference? . What is Cheat Meal - First of all a cheat meal is where you only have 1 meal where you basically are not as strict and take a temporary break from your dieting. They usually consist of high calorie foods that your regular nutrition plan wouldn’t allow.... . What is Cheat Day - A cheat day is basically a day where you allow yourself to eat whatever you want, whenever you want for the entire day. . What is Better For You - To start, if you have an unhealthy relationship with food at all please disregard this post as you need further help and a cheat meal may just further encourage unhealthy eating patterns and behaviours. . A cheat meal is usually best to start with because you could eat somewhere between 1000 to 2000 calories, depending on what it is. Obviously it is not recommended to eat so much of your calories in 1 meal because then you just end up binge eating instead. . But I do recommend a cheat meal here and there depending where you are on your fitness journey. It could go from once a week to once a month depending on where you are mentally. . It gives your body a quick reset to your metabolism after dieting for long periods of time. . It is also much harder to over eat all your calories in a day when you only cheat for one meal. . . Cheat Days are a No - On the other hand, I highly discourage cheat days. . You can literally eat 10,000 calories in a day and completely undo all the good you did during the week. . It takes roughly 3500 calories burned to lose 1 lb. You could also eat 3500 worth of calories in a day. . You see how if you had a cheat day you can undo everything you just did the past week? . . - So if you’re stuck at a certain weight or body fat % and can’t seem to move further. . Take a look at yourself are you having too many cheat meals or days and undoing all the work and progress you made during the week? . Only you will know and only you can figure that out yourself. . You have to be 100% honest when reflecting on it. See more

Sue (@sueshili) came to Raion Fitness in April 2018 because she was having issues with her knees. Pain, discomfort, clicking, all sorts of things that you shouldn’t feel at a young age. After that was dealt with, she started to focus on her body. . In the picture to the left, you would probably say she doesn't need to lose weight at all or what does she have to lose? You're right she doesn't. She simply just changed her body composition. She lowered her body fat % and put on ...some lean muscle. Her weight has barely changed much between the two pictures. . In the left picture all she did was cardio and eat around 800 calories a day on average. She found it hard to eat more food because she just wasn't hungry. Problem is, the focus on too much high fibre and filling foods! This just caused her to feel full way too early. Also, having consistent eating times also helps. . . Now currently she's eating pretty much double the amount of calories and lowered the cardio and picked up more weights! . . Great job Sue! See more

White Rice vs Brown Rice? Which is better for weight loss? . Short answer: IT DEPENDS on YOU . If you’re perfectly healthy, non diabetic then it really doesn’t matter!... . 100 grams of white rice is approximately 130 calories. 100 grams of brown rice is also approximately 120 calories. - So what’s the fuss about brown rice? . Well to start, it’s the whole grain. So there’s more fibre, more minerals, more nutrients overall, which is great and healthy and all. But if you’re getting enough of those nutrients because you eat a balanced diet, then it really doesn't matter. . - So why does white rice get a bad rap? . White rice on the other hand, is high in the glycemic index. But it’s largely irrelevant if you’re exercising and not eating rice on its own. . You eat rice with other foods so it’s not as bad as people say it is because of it’s high GI index. . Which is why I say if you’re perfectly healthy it doesn’t matter which you choose. . - Things you don't know about white vs brown rice . Let me tell you what they don’t tell you. Since I’m a total advocate for white rice in MOST situations. . Brown rice has more fibre right? Yes it does. Brown rice has a whopping 1 gram more fibre than white rice! . I don’t know about you, but brown rice on it’s own tastes pretty bad. . White rice is SUPER easy to digest. How do you feel after eating brown rice? . I definitely feel extremely bloated after eating only brown rice and extremely uncomfortable! . White rice digests really easily which doesn’t make you feel full. This is the biggest downside to it. Brown rice gives you that feeling of being full. So if you need to curb your appetite then brown rice is the way to go. . . - So in conclusion, unless you are diabetic or don’t exercise, you should be fine either way because other than health reasons there’s no real benefit to one or the other for weight loss. . . .
