SPLITS SQUATS OR SQUATS?..DO BOTH . . Split squats will: .... Help fix muscle imbalances, help reduce injuries and allow both legs to strengthen equally . If you are having hip trouble, this will reduce the stress on hips. Allowing you to still work your legs if you can't back squat temporarily . Will help improve leg stability, this will help improve overall leg strength/squats . HOWEVER.. . Don't stop back squatting, you cannot replace the heavy weight back squats when it comes to best leg/full body exercises. . While putting less stress on the lumbar region (lower back). . FOR ATHLETES: . A new study shows this can be one of the best exercises for improving athletic performance. Due to the trap bar sitting closer to the lifters centre of gravity and allowing more of a vertical movement, it allows a greater power production when moving the weight quickly at 65-85% 1RM. Power development is crucial for athletes. .
