This is the time that ayurveda was made for. So many natural measures to boost us in this time of need. I'll post a few for your use. Contact me if you have any questions.

Shout out to AYURVEDA for ancient preventative measures. Here's one of my favorite, especially good in these respiratory challenged times, with allergies, colds and yes, viruses, all around us. TURMERIC ELIXIR, my version of Golden Milk.... I use this as my immune boosting, inflammation reducing, mucous thinning, nervous system building, magic formula, balancing all three doshas at once. It also serves as a sweet warm cosy drink at the beginning and end of each day. 1 lt of concentrate is lasting me about 5 days. I drink at least 2 doses per day, in some form or other. Of course, its best to source all ingredients organic, but sometimes that’s not possible. In that event, say an extra 8 rounds of healing mantra to Ganesha while concocting. Remember turmeric has a bold attitude and turns everything it touches a beautiful sunshine yellow, so be careful. In a 1 lt/quart mason jar, soak overnight in 2 cups of boiled water: 3 tbls fresh chopped small or 2 tbls dry slivers or chunks of turmeric 3 tbls fresh or 2 tbls dry slivers of fresh ginger - chopped small (turmeric/ginger powder doesn’t works as well but in a pinch is ok, use just 1 heaping tbls each) 2 tbls whole black peppercorns or whole long pepper (pipli (piper longum) is more heating and is a well loved ayur herb, often used in formulas for respiratory issues. Both of these peppers work alongside the honey, to take all medicines deeper into the tissues and thus, the pepper is a vitally important ingredient. Next day, pour it all into a blender and mash up for at least one minute. Pour through a nut bag or silk screen to remove pulp, (pulp may be added to cooking, altho most of its potency is now in the liquid). Pour liquid back into blender and add: juice of 2 limes and 1 large or 2 small lemons 1-2 tbls coconut oil 1/4 cup unpasteurized honey pinch of cayenne powder, if you can handle extra heat Add enough cold water to make 1 lt. Blend for 1 minute. Refrigerate. Shake vigorously prior to use. Blend the entire amount again, if, after initial refrigeration the coconut oil has separated to the extent it is chunky. This will depend on the quality of the coconut oil. Mix 1/4 cup elixir in a cup of hot water, cold water, a smoothy, or just drink it straight up. Adjust amount of honey to taste. Do not substitute honey. It is one of the three gems of ayurveda, along with sesame oil and ghee. Do not adjust amount of pepper unless you just can’t get it down. In that case, back off the amount to half and slowly increase tolerance by adding more over time.

Since the new year, I have been busy transforming the full height walk out basement of the main house into a lovely granny suite for myself. I look forward to t...he simplicity of a much smaller space to attend to. I'll let you know when the house warming happens. Some time soon, I imagine. Today, since the basement build-in is so close to complete, I went out in the sunshine to play in the garden. I took a chance on a late plantingsome garlic that I grew last year. It was showing such signs of life, sprouting in the bottom drawer with the warmth of the spring sun. I pulled back the mulch and the soil was so light and soft, I dug the holes with my fingers and with a small prayer, pushed the large cloves in. I took rake and clippers in hand for the first time since the solstice storm. I made my way into the yard feeling very disconnected, as a full season has passed and I have consciously and unconsciously chosen to turn away from the tangled mass of trees and rocks, in self preservation on many levels, I'm sure. Today was the day to turn back and begin the task of cleaning up. I didn't get very far before I figured out, I just can't physically do it. I did some raking and a bit of pruning, and cleared the remains of the smashed front gates, to make way for the daffodils and grape hyacinth that were pushing up underneath them. Then I sat down and cried. Of course, it will never be the same, nor would I expect it to be. It is a colorful and multi layered, multi textured display of nature, that is and always has been constantly changing. The deeper very visceral, experiential realization is something we know, but then it hit full force: life as we know it, is so very very short. It seems reasonable to assume that one builds this kind of a garden landscape one, two, maybe three times in an entire lifetime, and for me, this one has been number three. This spring season comes with a bigger letting go than just this yard. Landscaping has been such a dharma for me. Being here for 25 years, stewarding its growth and change has been such an incredibly humbling reflection. Its chaotic, live if it may, what would it look like if, experimental attitude has won many hearts, delighted many birds and bees, and fed many nature hungry eyes, noses and bellies. Now the fences are all flattened, the deer wander and munch at will and the logs and rocks are like the scattered toys of a lazy giant, who got tired of his play. This body turned sixty this winter, and as strong and healthy as it is, it is asking for more loving attention, so instead of the gardens, I will tend more closely to this sacred ground, to this spirit's home. Amrit Dhara Ayurveda, bodywork and cleanses are all still a sweet fit and my clinic will have a room in the main house. When my attention is turned to ayurveda for you, it heals me as well. It is such an inspiring offering. Ram Spring Guest House will not reopen, as change is occurring there as well. I welcome my daughter Ayla and her family to live in the main house with me. Gita, known by some as Jenny, will be returning to Ram Spring this summer. After a long stretch with her family in England, she is coming back to Ram Spring to live in the forest cabin, drink the fresh spring water and enjoy the quietude of the island. We will continue to offer the Yurt Temple and Eagle Woman's Sweat Lodge as community gathering spaces. Over the next few months, I will be developing a small campground to accommodate people who are attending offerings in the yurt. Turning sixty came with a loud message. I welcome the change.

for at least 10,000 years, we have known this as truth. May we all remember again, as this now.
