I was not a Hijabi always! I started wearing a hijab after I moved to Canada. Was there a specific reason - maybe? I did not want to get lost in the "Chamak" (shiny) of this Dunya (world). I was afraid that if I don't wear a hijab at that time, I would never wear it. ... Did I wear hijab because I was afraid of Allah SWT? Was I forced or advised or asked to wear a hijab? Did I make this decision to identify myself as a Muslim? NO. Hijab, for me, is liberation. It brought me a step closer to Allah SWT. It changed my focus from the outer beauty to the beauty that lies within. Do I judge others without a hijab - I will be honest here - yes - I used to. What made me change is the fact that I am no one to judge. I am literally no one to see someone's worth with or without a hijab. I am learning every day! My worth or your worth is not equal to you wearing a hijab. The meaning of hijab is not just limited to the head covering. It is beyond that. One only needs to understand it.
