Range safety courses continue to run today for members who have signed up, paid their membership fees and scheduled a course. Today is also the first day members have access to the range, if your membership level allows and you have completed the written and practical parts of the safety course. So...it’s OPENING DAY. ... It has been a long wait! We hope all of our members start enjoying the range safely and responsibly.

For members who have taken the classroom portion of the Range Safety Course calling in to inquire about the Practical Exam on the range, we are doing our best to schedule as many of you in with minimal staff for the time being. Check the member's portal often under the 'Events' tab and select an open course to complete your practical. We will post more available times until you are all through. For members who need to take both the classroom and practical sections combined, w...e will be scheduling those courses towards the end of this week for next week. Please be patient. We have one staff member dedicated to the administrative side and one staff member dedicated to running the practical exam after going through a very difficult lockdown. We're doing our best to get you certified and get membership cards issued after just being able to open the doors on Tuesday after a month and a half shutdown.

We are excited to announce that Range 519 will be opening to members who have passed both the written and practical exams on February 20th, 2021. We will be using the next few days to get as many members who have already completed the written test through the practical exam so they can start enjoying the range. Members, check your e-mail for details and sign up for the practical exam via the 'events' tab. Unfortunately, due to being in the 'red' zone in Waterloo Region, we c...an not allow guests on the range and we will not be offering shooting packages with our RSOs until we are in a zone in the framework that allows for it. Range 519 is designated as a recreational facility and can operate under the current guidelines: - Maintain 2 metres physical distancing at all times - Increase spacing between patrons to 3 metres in areas where t there are weights or exercise equipment and in exercise and fitness classes - Capacity limits, where physical distancing can be maintained - 10 people in indoor areas with weights and exercise machines - 10 people in all indoor classes or - 25 people in outdoor classes - No spectators permitted, however each person under 18 may be accompanied by one parent or guardian - Team sports must not be practiced or played except for training (no games or scrimmage) - Activities that are likely to result in individuals coming within 2 metres of each other are not permitted; no contact permitted for team or individual sports - Exemptions for high performance athletes and parasport - Patrons may only be in the facility for 90 minutes except if engaging in a sport - Limit volume of music to be low enough that a normal conversation is possible; measures to prevent shouting by both instructors and members of the public - Face coverings required except when exercising - Require contact information for all members of the public that enter the facility - Require reservation for entry; one reservation for teams - Screening of patrons is required, in accordance with instructions issued by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health - A safety plan is required to be prepared and made available upon request For more details about Range 519, visit www.range519.com

Huge news...on the last day of 2020. After all the delays due to the pandemic, the first lockdown of 2020 and now the second lockdown of 2020 stretching into 2021, Range 519 is officially Ontario's newest firearm range. What a journey to get here. Thank you for all of your support. We hope our members are sending rounds down range soon on Range 1 and that we can educate the unlicensed public on Range 2.

We can't think of a better target to put up today. Stay safe this New Year's Eve.

Maybe if we re-branded, we could open up, but, unfortunately, we will not be able to welcome our new members until we are able to open the doors. As a result, memberships will be pushed forward until that day happens. We hope to hear the lovely sound of our members shooting on Range 1 and unlicensed individuals getting an education with one of our RSOs on Range 2 very soon.

When we set out to build a new range, we wanted something modern and high-end to enhance the experience for members and provide a recreational shooting facility for the 21st century. This is the first range of its kind in Canada, with a modern HVAC system that will make the range air safe and clean and a target retrieval system on the member’s range that will provide many different shooting experiences. Just a brief update, the building permit application for the ranges is now in the hands of the city. The next phase of the waiting game has started. Barring anything unforeseen it is still our expectation to be ready for a January/February 2021 opening. We do not expect to be releasing any membership information or pricing before November of this year.

Range 519 is still waiting on a building permit to start on the ranges. The building department has been closed due to Covid 19 and we're anxiously awaiting it to re-open. Stay tuned. We're as anxious as you are.

There have been a lot of inquiries regarding Sanctuary Gun Club at Select Shooting Supplies. The best information regarding the club, located an eight hour drive from Waterloo Region, Ontario, can be found by visiting www.sanctuarygunclub.com. To clarify - there is no need to prepare to export any firearms that have been recently prohibited at this time, even though that option does exist. There is a two-year amnesty in place. The partnership between Range 519 and Sanctuary Gun Club is purely to offer experiences to participants in the Canadian Shooting Sports new and unique opportunities south of the border (when the border opens, of course).
