Did you know RAPS runs a Pet Food Bank? Thanks to the tremendous generosity of local pet food suppliers and the general public, any extra donated pet food that can’t be used to feed our own RAPS’ animals is added to our Pet Food Bank. If you can use some help in feeding your dog or cat family members, please email [email protected] / [email protected] / [email protected] to make an appointment to pick up your food. Our Pet Food Bank is located at the Richmond Auto Mall at 205 13340 Smallwood Place the same location at the RAPS Animal Hospital, RAPS Adoption Centre & RAPS Admin Office.

The cats were excited to receive this big donation of canned food today. We are always on the look out for the fish flavours of Friskies. Thanks to Via C Hope and Norton Wong for their generosity. If you are interested in helping with the care of some of the cats here check out our Amazon wish list. https://www.amazon.ca//wishli/V9TT97OU6ZIG/ref=cm_sw_r_fa

As a regional rescue, RAPS is able to take in cats from places outside the lower mainland. Here are our two most recent jet-setters! https://neko-raps.blogspot.com//kitties-from-haida-gwaii.h?
Rescued from near-certain death, then infection, a very special cat now has a loving life at RAPS Cat Sanctuary. Pops’ story is one of hundreds in which RAPS’ mission of saving and improving the lives of animals is supported by our unique range of services that will ensure a lifetime of care for all the animals in our facilities. Read about his remarkable history. https://www.rapsbc.com/2020/11/pops-tops-after-therapy/
Even if you can’t adopt or volunteer your time, you can help our animals. You may not be able to open your home to a pet at this time but we know your heart is in the right place. Through our Sponsorship Program, your monthly contribution will enable us to keep our promise to all the animals in our care of always providing a safe place to live and the necessary medical care they need and deserve. And all of this costs less than a dollar a day. ... Find out more and sponsor a cat https://catsanctuary.ca/cat-sponsorship/
Today is National Cat Day in the United States. (It’s sort of like Thanksgiving in Canada we celebrated more than a month ago!) Besides, EVERY day is National Cat Day at RAPS. Whether you’re Canadian, American or some other kind of Earthling, join us as we show our appreciation for our feline friends and family!
Its National Cat Day and also the one year anniversary of this sweet girl being brought in from horrific living conditions. Barbara strongly feels as though this should be renamed National Barbara Day. Interested in sponsoring a cat like Barbara? Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month for November, June Ikeba! June has been volunteering with us since July 2019 and often steps up to fill in when other volunteers or staff are away sometimes for multiple days in a row. While most volunteer shifts are two hours, June often comes for six hours and even brings her own cleaning supplies! June says she is always happy when she is at the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary team and the cats! are also happy when she’s here because she’s friendly, funny and a natural cat-person. Thank you and congratulations June!
The Sanctuary residents work on their facial hair all year long. Here’s a look at some of our moustachioed friends: https://neko-raps.blogspot.com//meowvember-furry-faces.html
The cats at the Sanctuary have their Halloween costumes ready! Will you and your furry friends be dressing up this weekend? https://neko-raps.blogspot.com/2020/10/costumed-cats.html?
The cat of the month for Movember is Magpie! Sporting a dashing moustache, he lives in the back pens of the Sanctuary. Magpie was the last of six cats trapped at Rusty's Tow Yard, as he was the wildest of the bunch. He’s still feral, and avoids humans as best he can, but he has settled in Pen #8 with a couple of his family members.
National Chocolate Day! While this day typically recognizes one of many people's favorite treats, we'd like to recognize a few of our favorite chocolate & chocolate point cats! The two chocolate kittens are currently in foster care with their family and the two chocolate point adults are beloved RAPS Cat Sanctuary residents Neko & Beeboo. Hope you'll celebrate today with any variety of chocolate!
HoneyBear is excited to check out this wagon load of donations from the very generous Dodie Barnes. Algernon is so excited that it looks like he's trying to push the wagon away! #rapscatsanctuary #richmondbc
Halloween reminds us of the mythologies and stereotypes about black cats. These human perceptions can have life-and-death impacts on cats. Find out more about black cats and how humans have projected our fears and prejudices onto them https://www.psychologytoday.com//3-reasons-people-dont-ado
Happy National Black Cat Day from some of the beautiful panther residents of the RAPS Cat Sanctuary.
Black cats get a bad rap. History has not been kind to ebony felines. At RAPS, black cats are as loved as every other animal! Learn more about the history and cultural lore around these special beasts. https://www.rapsbc.com/2019/10/why-adopt-a-black-cat/
We can’t say this kitty treadmill is used often by the residents of the RAPS Cat Sanctuary, but Alex definitely loves to give it a whirl once in a while. And, apparently, this is a rather tame workout for Alex as she’s known to be a real whirling dervish on the apparatus! Thanks Alex, for pointing out the loud squeaking noise as well the treadmill has since been oiled up and ready for Alex’s next workout. Stay fit and healthy everyone.
Sweet babies Banshee and Domino are getting some excellent news... Read on to find out what it is! https://neko-raps.blogspot.com/2020/10/banshee-domino.html

Wow - that was a BUSY day of donation pick-ups - the van was FULL! Huge, huge thanks to our generous supporters - Global Pet Foods Burnaby, Bosley's by Pet Valu, Bosley's by Pet Valu (Terra Nova) and Tisol Pet Nutrition & Supply Stores These donations of high quality pet food and accessories are so greatly appreciated!
#Cats should be kept indoors, walked on leashes or provided with catios. Evidence piles up about the ecological damage wreaked by #domesticcats. https://www.msn.com//mini-cameras-that-spy-on-/ar-BB18ZS1h
Today is National Feral Cat Day. This is an important day in the calendar for RAPS. We began 25 years as a tiny group of volunteers trapping feral cats in Richmond, and spaying or neutering them. As a result, Richmond has almost no feral cats. We are celebrating a quarter-century of saving and improving the lives of animals. It’s all possible because of your support. THANK YOU!
