With the evolving COVID-19 situation, our clinic has closed to walk-in traffic. But that doesn't mean we're closed! Telemedicine: current patients may now book telephone / telemedicine consults directly through our online portal, or you can call or email to book in advance (as always). Urgent care: while we are closed to walk-in traffic, if we determine that you need urgent in-person care, and you are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, we may still be able to see you in ...person. For more details, and for the latest updates, see our website:

We have just published our Coronavirus Response Policy here. This is also where you will find daily updates on shift and schedule changes at our clinic, and links to the best local and Canadian resources on the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we will weather this storm, side by side.

Wellspring Peloton Challenge, Day 6 - 2nd / last Recovery Day Dr Clifford here. Continuing where we left off, our team had a second recovery (aka drive around getting things done) day. This recovery day was slightly shorted than the first, but not by much. We got up early again to deliver the support vehicles to the next team in time for their departure, then we hit the road.... The reality is that there wasn't much excitement today, except for one annual tradition: team photos with the Texas sign. Other than that, and jokes revolving around intentionally misinterpreting a "slow church ahead" sign, it was a quiet day on the road... and I was starting to rest up a bit. One good night's sleep and I would be all set for tomorrow's ride. I only wish I'd thought to use the giant bag of popcorn as a pillow sooner, as demonstrated by a great show of ingenuity from Aaron Lutes. #rideforcancersupport http://events.wellspring.ca/goto/TeamClifford

Wellspring Peloton Challenge - Day 5, Ride 4 Dr Clifford here. We arrived safely in San Antonio yesterday afternoon, but I'm going to continue with the blog for those who are interested. By Day 5, the lack of sleep was really starting to get to me, to the point that I want sure I would be able to continue. I was also starting to get grumpy, which is not how I wish to live my life. Our ride was planned for 6 pm that evening, and we had to drive to the staging area, and get foo...Continue reading

Wellspri g Peloton Challenge, Day 4, Ride 3. Cthulu and Tnnessee Love. Dr Clifford here. Day 4 dawned with an ominous grin. While our hotel was awesome, the waffles had something different in mind... Cthulu made an appearance, His form visible in Danny's waffles. Was it destiny? Or had he conjured the evil fiend in payback for the 10% discount from the day before? If you don't know Cthulu, It's basically the evil counterpart to the Divine Spaghetti Monster....Continue reading

Wellspring Peloton Challenge, Day 3 - Anatomy of recovery. Dr Clifford here. Every cyclist needs to recover. The more you train, the more efficient the recovery, and there are things you can do to help the process. This ride is typically planned with a 24 hr recovery after every ride, so if your ride ends at midnight, you would get a day off and ride the following midnight to 6 am. But due to our ghost shifts and altered schedule, we ended up with 36 hrs for recovery this tim...Continue reading

Wellspring Peloton Challenge - Day 2 blog. Dr clifford here. Last night we rode from 6 pm to 1 am this morning, and it was definitely a once in a lifetime ride! Aside from the many challenges of the ride, over 100 of the 120 km we rode were on beautifully paved nature trails. By day, the paths were gorgeous, with trees arching most if not all the way over the path. But by night, it was a truly surreal experience, and the wildlife we saw along the way was just amazing... it wa...Continue reading

Day 1 blog - from the van on Day 2. Dr Clifford here. Day 1 was a whirl! There were technically two rides: kickoff and our Day 1 ride. Kick off was bright and early, with team 1 starting us off. Our other teams l joined in (I'm part of team 3) for the first short stretch, then peeked off to get ready for our first leg in the relay. Relay? Yes. There's no other way to get to San Antonio in 8 days other than a 24 hour relay. How does it work? 5 teams of riders, 4 shifts per day.... Each shift is 6 hours, and since we have 5 shifts, that means 24 hours to recover and move to our next start point (over 8 days, we typically have 6 to 7 rides, depending on what team you're on). This year is a bit different because we're short on riders, so we have some fancy scheduling to make it work without burning out our riders! So we rode last night on a modified schedule from 5 to 10 pm, 92 km. Today (day 2) we ride a normal 6 hr shift from 6 pm to midnight, and tomorrow... well, we'll get there when we get there! Quick side-note: each team has a Warrior, a cancer survivor, assigned to them to provide motivation. Our rides, and all the pain we put ourselves through, is a megaphor for the cancer journey; our Warrior reminds us by their very presence of what it is we are trying to accomplish. Back to the story, our Warrior, a wonderful woman named Aspasia, gave each of us a parting gift: a small hand-made talisman that she made herself to help protect us and remind us that she is on our team and watching over us in her way. (The photo here is the one she made for me). She also sends us daily messages that I will talk about on a later date. On to the ride! We got to our transfer point early, so we had a nice relaxing setup. Ironically, we found a giant "3" sign at our starting point. The ride itself started well, it was a beautiful warm evening, and beautiful scenery. We took a quick break around sunset. After dark it cooled down nicely and we had the chance to test out our lights. The lights mostly held up (we're upgrading a couple today), our bikes mostly held up (one flat tire), and our legs did hold up (we'll see how it goes tonight!). It was still quite nice to see the RV at the end of the ride and get some refreshments! Near the end of the ride, when fuel was running low, one of our teammates gave me an energy gel. It looked like a gummy candy, but wow did it have kick! ... just one of those things kept me going for the last 10 km with energy to spare! I'll have to try some out again future rides! Ok, I think that's all for now, more tomorrow after our late night ride tonight. http://events.wellspring.ca/goto/TeamClifford
