Creator, . Help us know when our work is done. . Help us rest when we should.... . Help us reach out to serve when we can. . Help us remember to check on our strong friends. . Help us be kinder toward those who can’t do as much as we can. . Help us do the next right thing. . And please, help us not to forget the ice cream next time we're at the grocery store. . May it be so. ~Sunday Prayers by Nadia Bolz-Weber . Radiant Calm . I wish I could take you to the winter forest where I stood in fresh snow ... flakes falling soft the silence pulsed with love alive with something deeper . no cars or planes in the distance no wind in the pines no crunch of other feet behind me only this pure deep silence stretching out to the known edges of time and space . I became the only sound soft breath the tap of snow landing on a puffy coat hair moving on a scarf almost too loud . this palpable peace it reached out from trees, ground, sky engulfed me in a wave of love . the radiant calm whispered you are here alive like a tree like a forest like frozen water falling welcome dear one we have been here with you all along . ~ Shona Lauzon . In this video I share what my understanding and experience of a "spirit animal" is and relate some of the most significant and loving experiences I've had with hawks, elephants and ravens. Wonderful speaking with Dawn Rockall and Caron Shepley on Spiritual Superpowers about this - my favourite thing!

This has been a big part of my focus this year. I can feel it like a gear shifting in my heart. Love to you now and always.

I feel it, every time.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Autumn Equinox this year is today - Tuesday, September 22nd - when the hours of daylight and darkness are equal. Themes for the Autumn Equinox include: harvest, gratitude, letting go, death & dying, magic and mystery, shadow work, and remembering our ancestors. The fall always feels to me like the season for crows and ravens, haunting the fields of corn, mocking the "scare-crows." Below is the Raven who stole the Sun - a legend about the light and also about courage and sacrifice. May you be blessed by the light and the dark in this beautiful season. xo
THIS. Via The Natural Parent Magazine & A Life In Progress Self-care is often a very unbeautiful thing. It is making a spreadsheet of your debt & enforcing a routine & cooking yourself healthy meals & no longer just running from your problems & calling the distraction a solution. It is often doing the ugliest thing that you have to do, like sweat through another workout or tell a toxic friend you dont want to see them anymore or get a second job so you can have a savings ...account or figure out a way to accept yourself so that youre not constantly exhausted from trying to be everything, all the time & then needing to take deliberate, mandated breaks from living to do basic things like drop some oil into a bath and read Marie Claire & turn your phone off for the day. A world in which self-care has to be such a trendy topic is a world that is sick. Self-care should not be something we resort to because we are so exhausted that we need reprieve from our own relentless internal pressure. True self-care is not salt baths & chocolate cake, it is making the choice to build a life you dont need to regularly escape from. & that often takes doing the thing you least want to do. It is not satiating your immediate desires. It is letting go. It is choosing new. It is letting yourself be normal. Regular. Unexceptional. It is sometimes having a dirty kitchen & deciding your ultimate goal in life isnt going to be having abs. It is deciding how much of your anxiety comes from not actualizing your latent potential, & how much comes from the way you were being trained to think before you even knew what was happening. It is no longer using your hectic & unreasonable life as justification for self-sabotage in the form of liquor & procrastination. It is learning how to stop trying to fix yourself and start trying to take care of yourself. It means being the hero of your life, not the victim. It is no longer choosing a life that looks good over a life that feels good. It is giving the hell up on some goals so you can care about others. It is becoming the person you know you want and are meant to be. Someone who knows that salt baths & chocolate cake are ways to enjoy life not escape from it. #Repost @postnatalroadmap See more

All I need is a blank page To take me out of this reality Out of fire and plague and dogs that bite All I need is a blank page To rewrite my day and my life... To rewrite the month and the year To say I am not what is happening around me I am not the madness I am this This quiet white This open space This blank page Here I can find the seed of my heart Under a snowy field Here I can be still and listen I know the trees Are speaking to one another Even from the edge of this page - S.L. To everyone who finds themselves weeping their way through this long year...love to you.
This is easier said than done, I know. And I believe that in simply doing the work of healing ourselves, we help those around us.

Heres to the beauty of not always knowing what were doing, but showing up anyway.
What are some of your tried and trued methods for calming yourself in these stormy times? One of my favorites is taking a walk outside - even if only for a few minutes. Via Know Your Numbers
