LOCKDOWN UPDATE Hey Raynham Riders, We hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and a Happy New Year. I apologize for the delay in updating everyone about the plan for the next session. We have created a tentative schedule for the winter session, but I am hesitant to post it until we know when we’ll be allowed to resume classes and what the regulations will look like going forward. We are closely monitoring the updates from the province and our local public healt...h office. As of right now, the provincial wide lockdown is due to expire on Saturday, January 23rd, which means tentatively, classes could resume that day. We aren’t sure if the lockdown is going to be extended or if there will be new indoor gathering limits, so we are waiting for further details before posting a schedule. We know everyone is missing being at the barn, so we are excited to announce we are going to do a SECOND virtual lesson on Friday, January 15th @ 5:00pm! Thank you to everyone that participated in our first virtual lesson before the break. We received lots of terrific feedback and it was a ton of fun! I have posted all the videos from the first lesson on our YouTube page. There are listed privately for now, here is the link: https://youtube.com/playlist. If you would like to participate in our second lesson, please register here: https://zoom.us//regi/tJEqc-GuqDIjHtefT-lGn_HihNH78lpSiHT4. We hope you are all staying safe and healthy and look forward to having everyone back at the barn soon! Nikki & the Raynham Team

Thank you SO much to everyone that signed on and participated in our first-ever virtual lesson tonight! As usual, I had way too much to say and we didn't even get through half of the videos we had prepared. The feedback was a resounding YES to do another meeting, stay tuned for the date! Topics we didn't get to for the next meeting include how to lunge, how to walk a related distance, how to put on open front boots, how to do stable bandages, and more! If you can think of any other topics you'd like us to cover for our next virtual lesson, please comment below! If you missed tonight, all the videos and topics covered today will be posted on our website shortly, we will send out an email blast with the link :)

We are busy filming for our Virtual Lesson on Friday! It will have lots of tips, riding clips, and horsemanship information. Topics will range from blanketing, grooming, and basic riding position for our less advanced riders to booting, wrapping and riding tips for our more advanced riders. Here’s a sneak peak of Lindsay demonstrating how to (and how not to!) feed a treat If you haven’t yet registered for the class Friday, you can do so here: https://zoom.us//regi/tJ0rd-6upzouH9VexPA_hTX2-yCSvpZ_F8at. We will also record the lesson for later viewing. If you have any questions you’d like us to answer, please comment below!

Please support our wonderful local tack stores this holiday season! We love having vendors at shows and many of them have supported our Raynham fundraisers so let’s be sure to give back! Hey Everyone! In case you didn't read through the email blast we sent out yesterday, we are asking that all riders have their own grooming kits. We are currently disinfecting brushes but they are starting to freeze, and in an attempt to be extra cautious, we feel it would be safest for all participants to have their own equipment. I have received a few emails asking what needs to be in a grooming kit. All brush kits MUST have:... - a hoof pick (to clean out the horses' hooves) - a curry comb (to loosen dirt and shedding hair) - a hard/dandy brush (to sweep away loosened dirt & hair) It is also nice to have: - a comb or brush for the horses' mane (tails should NOT be combed without detangler) - a soft/body brush (to remove remaining dust and polish the coat) Here is a good article explaining the various types of brushes: https://www.saddlebox.net/horse-brushes-explained/. We will have the curry comb/hard brush combo and a hoof pick available for sale for $10.00, please let us know if you would like to order a set. If you would like to pick out your own brushes, the Nobleton Feedmill is only 5 minutes from the barn and they have a good selection! They are located at 12 Old King Rd, Nobleton, ON L0G 1N0. You can also order or pick up from local tack shops, including www.greenhawk.com, www.bakerssaddlery.com, www.bahrsaddlery.com, https://www.pleasantridge.ca, www.horseandhound.ca

Click here to view our latest email blast: https://mailchi.mp//covid-19-update-session-two-lessons-wi As I am sure everyone has heard, as of tomorrow, York Region will be in the Red Zone for Covid-19 restrictions. Thankfully, we were very careful when creating our fall schedule so we do not have to cancel any classes. We will be strictly enforcing the rules to comply with public health guidelines, details were sent out via our latest email blast. We have been very spoiled so far this month with summer-like temperatures and outdoor riding! It looks like we are going to return to more seasonal temps this week so here are my tips for dressing for cold-weather riding. We are also very excited that our tack up area renovation is now complete and is HEATED to keep riders warm while tacking up/untacking this winter :) http://raynhamstables.blogspot.com//winter-riding-tips.html

Hey Raynham Riders! Just a reminder that there are NO lessons tomorrow. When planning the sessions, we had reserved tomorrow to have our annual Halloween Schooling Show, so the date was not included in the session (no makeups are required). We’re bummed to miss out on our favourite schooling show for this first time in over a decade! We have photos of some of the awesome costumes from this week that we will post shortly!! Happy Halloween!

Hey Raynham Riders! If you have sent me an email in the past week, I'm working on it! I was away at a horse show Thursday - Sunday, with little time in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday so I have quite the backlog (over 100 emails!). We will be caught up by Wednesday. Thank you for your patience!

Did you know? All helmets must be ASTM/SEI approved and correctly fitted, ideally professionally. Helmets should NOT be stored where they are exposed to extreme temperatures (like the trunk of your car ). Helmet should be replaced after it has been in a fall/ accident or three to five years from its manufactured date.

Hey Raynham Riders! The updated fall schedule has been posted. We did have to make quite a few modifications to the schedule, and there are sadly still more riders on the waiting list than I would like. I truly wish we could fit everyone in. There are still a few potential openings, I'm just waiting to hear back from some riders and then I will reach out to those on the waiting list. Please also be sure to take the time to read through the important info, including our ...riding school policies and Covid-19 protocols. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the barn next week! https://mailchi.mp/c3c06e705a1d/updated-lesson-schedule
