Built this rustic mantle recently. It was fun adding the distressed look to the wood giving it a nice aged and solid appeal but it has a hidden opportunity for storage within.

It is a sad day at Rays Contracting. After nearly ten years I say goodbye to and old friend that has always been there when I needed her. I remember the first day that I held her in my hands. How I used to care for her when she needed me and then, she'd be right there for me the next time I needed her. ... Sure, we had words from time to time, but looking back, it was always me it seems, that was in too much of a hurry to pay attention to what she was telling me. To learn from her amazing way of always making things turn out right. It had been a couple days since I last saw her, I remember the last time I held her in my hands and how she made me a better person that day. I left her laying there on the bench. And that is where I found her. All dried up and alone, looking old and neglected. I'm gonna miss that old paint brush. Hey, any one know when home hardware closes?
