Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives 26.12.2020

In a year when the Christmas Fund was needed more than ever, the community came together like never before. We were overwhelmed and overjoyed by the support we received. More than 2,800 of our neighbours in need - seniors and single-parent families, refugees and those who have lost jobs during the pandemic have enjoyed the holiday season thanks to you. If you made a monetary donation or collected toys, if you gave your time as a volunteer, you’re part of a truly remarkable s...tory. If somebody tells you that holiday magic isn’t real, don’t believe them. We’ve seen it with our own eyes. We’ve seen it in the generosity of the Richmond community. We turned to you for help, and like magic, you were there. Thank you! #ThankYou #CommunityIsLikeFamily

As of March 19, 2020, RCRG has made the difficult but necessary decision to suspend our programs and services until further notice. We're doing this as a safety precaution, at the direction of provincial health authorities, to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. The health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, and clients is always our primary concern, and we made this decision with them in mind. While our office will not be open during the closure, staff members will r...emain reachable by e-mail, unless an out-of-office message indicates otherwise. Please refer to our online Staff Directory (https://buff.ly/3b9KfPX) to get in touch with the appropriate person or department. Staff will also be checking voicemail, though their response may be delayed. During the closure, our Seniors Community Support Services Shop-by-Phone service will remain active. Clients will be notified how and when they can place a grocery order going forward. All existing clients of light housekeeping services will continue to receive this service. If there are any changes to the scheduled housekeeping appointment, you will be notified by RCRG staff. For seniors who are being visited by a volunteer friendly visitor while in-home visits are suspended, phone contact will continue. The same holds true for Senior Peer Counselling clients While the Richmond Child Care Resource & Referral Centre and library are closed, staff are available to answer inquiries via e-mail or telephone. Please refer to the Staff Directory link above for contact information. We also intend to remain active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and to continue sending out a regular newsletter. While physical distance is now necessary, connecting with one another is more important than it's ever been. This is our way of staying connected with you. Above all, our message is this: there is no way to make light of what's happening. But there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. As a community, we'll get through this, and we'll come back with a renewed sense of purpose and compassion towards one another. There are brighter days ahead, and we'll get there together.
