Here is a message from Brian Harris, Provincial Poppy Chair... Good afternoon Comrades and friends. You might have heard or read that there has been a Covid Outbreak among our Veterans at Parkwood. Previous to this announcement, Parkwood had no Covid-19 cases, currently the number is 28 cases out of our 97 Veterans, this number is sure to increase. This has put the facility in lock down and restricted even further, any contact with our Veteran Residents...... I am asking you all to encourage a letter (email) writing campaign to our Veterans who are feeling very isolated and alone right now. These letters can come from anyone, yourself, other comrades, your family, friends, neighbors, Anyone. I will be reaching out to our London and area Cadet Corps and Navy Leagues, I encourage you to also reach out to those in your area. If you have a base in your area, also reach out to those as well. Letters from fellow Veterans and Cadets really mean a lot. Kindly address them to Dear Veteran, the content can be however you feel of course, the object of this campaign is to let our Veterans know that they remembered, cared for and respected. We had a similar campaign earlier in this health crisis and the letters meant so very much to our Veterans. The letters will be addressed to them by name once received. Please send your letters to Lindsey Moore at [email protected] In comradeship and appreciation, Brian Harris Vice President The Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Provincial Command Provincial Poppy Chair
