Lakeshores Atlas Tube Centre Opening Rinks The Atlas Tube Centre has opened its second rink, with the third rink scheduled to be available within the next few ...weeks. Lakeshores Atlas Tube Centre will expand to two ice pads beginning on September 21st 2020, and will be open on weekends on September 26th/27th for the first time since its closure on March14th. We are happy to get our kids back on the ice again. Stated Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain. I want to thank our families for their patience and support throughout this process and remind everyone to continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines so we can continue to reopen our facilities. Parents will also gain access beginning September 21st, allowing one parent per participant under 18 years of age. This will allow parents and guardians to assist children with equipment, while also having the chance to view hockey and figure skating activities. All visitors must wear a mask while in the Atlas Tube Centre, and adhere to all COVID-19 protocols. The latest Atlas Tube Centre protocols can be found online at: https://www.lakeshore.ca//covid-19-ice-sports-protocols.as Lakeshore will soon track users online using the link below. All information will be kept confidential. I BET YOU DIDNY KNOW ABOUT THIS: AFTER FLIGHT 77 HIT THE PENTAGON ON 9/11, THE FOLLOWING HAPPENED. A daycare facility inside the Pentagon had many children, i...ncluding infants who were in heavy cribs. The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do. There were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants who would need to be taken out with the cribs. There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers. Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, "Well, here we are, on our own." About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 other Marines in tow. Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers. The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac . Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing - they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the Old West. Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to keep them from wandering off. Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children. The chaplain then said, "I dont think any of us saw nor heard of this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there. There wasnt a dry eye in the room. The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted; could we expect any less from them? It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon. Its the military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Its the military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag. If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the military, please pass this on and pray for our men and women, who have served and are currently serving our country, and honor the memory of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice! God Bless The USA!

ATTENTION MEMBERS! Many Branches and members have questions with regard to meetings and voting. Here is some clarification from Ontario Command: 1 - Any Branches with over 100 members CANNOT have a General meeting. (This includes our Branch 399, which means that we cannot hold a General Membership meeting, yet) If a Branch has 51 to 100 members and the executive decides they can have a General meeting outside and follow the covid guidelines (social distancing, masks etc.) the...n they can have a general meeting. If a Branch has less than 50 members and can follow covid rules than they can have a general meeting inside if the executive decides to do so. 2 - There will be no Branch elections this year. All current executive are to stay in their positions until next year when they can get back on their regular election schedule. If there is an executive member who cannot fulfill this extension of duty, they must hand in a written resignation letter to the President, at which point he/she can appoint someone to fill their spot, without repercussion. Command understands that stuff happens in life and some people may have to resign for personal, medical etc. reasons. Again there will be no bad feelings if someone must move on. 3 - Branches cannot hold electronic voting, as of yet. Not all Branch members have access to computers, and therefore they would not be able to vote an as we all know, every Branch member has the right to vote. During these unprecedented times, we will do our best to keep our membership updated on any new information and/or changes. Thank you for your patience & cooperation. Stay well and take care! (Thank you Branch 157 for these words - I could not have said it better)

Canadian soldiers resting on board a Hunt-class destroyer after the Combined Operations daylight raid on Dieppe - August 19, 1942. Not sure if these guys are Essex Scottish but the strain of the operation can be seen on their faces. Such incredible courage.
