October Plan of the Month: The Blue Ridge. This 1745 sq.ft. footprint Western red cedar log post and beam project is being built by Mountain ridge log homes for location in Georgia USA. We have been designing many mono-slab roof type architecture lately, an indication that the more modern look is becoming popular especially using post and beam construction style. With a large 483 sq.ft. guest suite at second floor plus a full walkout basement, this home totals almost 4000 sq....ft. Deflector roofs were added between two mono-slab roofs sloping into each other over the great room. This works fine for low snow locations but may not be desirable in high snow fall areas. This is a creative design that clearly displays how we can marry contemporary design with log construction. See more

We received these finished pictures from a customer that we had a few years back. Unfortunately, they have to move, but someone else is going to be very fortunate to own this amazing property. Special thanks goes to Cascade Handcrafted Log & Timber Homes for building the log work!! Here is a video link advertising the house: https://vimeo.com/447214298

August Plan of the Month: The Wedding Barn. This almost 5000 sq.ft. building footprint will house large wedding parties up to 150 people in attendance. Covered patios on each side give the opportunity to open up the festivity to the outdoor with possible removable wall panels. Commercial kitchen, bar at foyer and dressing room upstairs for the bride and bridesmaid. This log post and beam construction is a straight forward build

We received some construction pictures from one of our customers that has been building over the last 3 years. The house is almost completed, and they sent over some pictures that copied the computer renderings that were created during the design stage. I must say, the "real house" looks much better!

This 1603 sqft footprint western red cedar log home we designed for an island of Lunenburg Nova Scotia. The ground is basically rock and almost no concrete is planned for foundation. Instead we designed a steel structure to support the log home above thus creating storage space under for water tanks, wood storage batteries for solar power within exterior frame walls and cultured stone finish as a perimeter envelope. This house is off grid and has solar panels planned on pede...stals in a cleared area of the island. Heat will be with heat pump running on solar power and Tulikivi wood burning stove As well the cooking stove in kitchen is also a Tulikivi type. One bath for the house is to be shared for all bedrooms. Dining room is set in a log turrets overlooking ocean view. Extruded pipes solar water heater are placed on south side of roof. Unfortunately owner of this beautiful island since Covid have decided to abandon this project and sell the island. See more
