Did you know? We created the National Cybercrime Coordination Unit (NC3) in 2019 to reduce the threat, victimization and impact of cybercrime in Canada through ...innovation and intelligence. The NC3 couldn't do this without law enforcement, Government and industry partnerships both in Canada and abroad. Learn more about what the NC3 is all about: https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/nc3?fb

On this June 17, 2020... Text posted from Christine Doane, off her Facebook account. My husband was beat up so bad at work he had to go to the hospital by ambulance. I just finally got to pick him up just after 1AM... He Needed staples in his head, lip glued back together, his face is swollen so bad he doesn’t even look like himself and bruised all over already. He had to have xrays of his face because they thought his orbital bone was broken. And He’s got a serious concussion. My husband was attacked and beat up, while attending a call that should have been simple that when it came in didn’t seem to require backup so he went alone. he didn’t fight back to defend himself because he was worried about the backlash with all the anti police crap right now, he didn’t want to injure this man who was trying to kill him and add more fuel to the fire (he didn’t want to hurt this man regardless) He didn’t want to be accused of wrong doing, and put his family though the negativity that would follow. He was protecting us. He was beat, while the person yelled at him That he was going to kill him, he tried to take his gun!MHe could have been killed and still My husband was second guessing himself and afraid to protect himself! What the f has this world come to, That criminals rule now. That the police have zero support it seems. That they now have to second guess themselves even when their life is in danger Even more disappointing is that Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Nova Scotia updated the ongoing situation that started with my husband being brutally attacked, updated that the man was in police custody, being checked over and EVERYBODY IS OKAY not one peep of their member who was currently laying in a hospital bed!! Why would they mention that? Cops are just all racist, garbage that signed up for it right? Had Matt injured this man, even in self defence, it would be plastered everywhere. But they won’t say a word about This man injuring a cop?! I am beyond disgusted, I’m sad, I’m furious. Makes me sick that our good police members are scared to stand up for themselves when needed. That this is what it has come to. Im mad that no matter how they respond it’s wrong. It literally does not matter what the outcome, somehow the police were wrong. And just a reminder this is a good man, and a good cop. On top of what he’s done at work he also has rescued many many horses with me and helped with their rehab. But these things don’t matter. they are all labelled the same no matter what it seems.

On this day... Update as of Tuesday, April 21: up to 22 deaths now. 17 people were killed during a gunman's bloody 12-hour rampage through several Nova Scotia communities, and police warn there may be more victims. ... In an update on Sunday evening, Nova Scotia RCMP first said at least 10 people were killed in several locations across the province, including a veteran RCMP officer. Police said there may be more victims who have not been discovered yet and their investigation continues. Later on Sunday evening, RCMP Commissoner Brenda Lucki said police know of at least 13 victims, besides the shooter. She also confirmed the incident is not terror-related at this time. RCMP identified the gunman as Gabriel Wortman, 51. His rampage began late Saturday night in the small community of Portapique, N.S. He led police on a chase Sunday morning along one of the province's busiest highways. The chase ended near a gas station about 35 kilometres north of Halifax in Enfield, N.S., around 11:40 a.m. local time. Police confirmed Sunday evening that the gunman was dead. RCMP Chief Supt. Chris Leather said gunfire was exchanged between police and the suspect at at least one point. Motive turned to 'randomness' Lucki said she believed the shooter had an initial "motivation" at the beginning that "turned to randomness." "Our investigation will tell that. We don't know for sure, and we're going to have to do a lot of work on finding the motivation a lot of background, a lot of profiling-type events and a lot of crime scene processing," she said. The RCMP will also be calling on their subject-matter experts in forensics and criminal profiling, Lucki said. "Whatever it takes so that we can give the families of the victims answers to the many questions that they probably have." Gunman did not know some of his victims: police On Sunday morning, police had warned that the gunman was driving a vehicle that looked like an RCMP vehicle at one point, and was wearing an RCMP uniform. "The fact that this individual had a uniform and a police car at his disposal certainly speaks to it not being a random act," Leather said. Due to privacy reasons, Leather said he was not able to discuss Wortman's relationship with the victims, besides saying some of the victims did not appear to have a relationship with the gunman. Police victim identified; Const. Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the RCMP, has been identified as the police member who was killed responding to the active shooter incident.
