Winter road conditions make for dangerous intersections. Be sure to begin slowing your vehicle BEFORE reaching the intersection. Many intersection collisions during the winter happen at intersections as a result of vehicles not being able to come to a complete stop due to slippery roads. The vehicles ultimately slide into an intersection and into the path of moving traffic. "Winter driving conditions can sneak up on you, so please slow down and be prepared" advises Cpl Sam Munden, NT RCMP Traffic Services.

It’s been 35 years since Mary Rose Martin, 27-year-old Indigenous female, was last seen alive in Yellowknife, on the night of November 10th, 1985. Her body was discovered on the Ingraham Trail near the Giant Mine site on November 11th, 1985. Martin was the victim of a homicide and the investigation remains open. We’d really like to discover a new connection, or hear from anyone that may have information. If you know anything, please call NT RCMP at 867-669-1111 states Corporal Mike Lewis, NT RCMP Historical Crime Unit. Help us solve this crime.

Last month, Yellowknife RCMP were out on patrol keeping their community safe. In two separate instances they came upon intoxicated persons who needed help. In one instance, the person had fallen to the ground, in the middle of a road, and the quick action of the officer likely prevented a pedestrian and motor vehicle casualty. In both instances, the officers likely saved their lives. If you see someone in distress, call it in. Help police save lives
