Crew member John Harper got a chance to visit the RCMP dive team aboard the Police Vessel "Lindsay" today in Brentwood Bay. The team was operating their ROV and seabed sonar systems that they use during bottom searches. The ROV positions and sonar positions are all georeferenced so easy find targets with the sonar and then send the ROV to the target to confirm its identify and collect if necessary. Ultra geeky stuff and COOL!

May Day in Brentwood Bay! At 1am last night the Brentwood Bay SAR was called out to a May Day call for a vessel aground near Sluggett Point. The vessel had dragged, collided with another vessel and was being pushed onshore by the high winds. We had 8 of our crew on the dock in 10 minutes and left the dock within 20 min. We found the sailing vessel "Charlotte" healed over and aground. We got a towline to her and were able to tow her to deeper water. The Mill Bay SAR unit arrived and tied alongside "Charlotte" to provide a side-tow into the Brentwood Bay Lodge. We were lucky to have crew ashore that could assist with tie up in the tight quarters between the docks. Attached are photos of the crew at 3am on the way home and "Charlotte," safely secured at the dock this morning.

Candace Winter and John Harper conducted a virtual Zoom tour of our Station and Search and Rescue vessel yesterday for the Brentwood Girl Guides! What a hoot! We stretched our technological limits with Candace running the demo (and talking -a lot) and John on the camera. Girl Guides leader Kris Walker organized the event and classified it as fantastic. And there are still Girl Guide cookies available!
