Well, winter threw all it had at us this week. But winter didn’t realize we had what it takes!! Indoor recess before school, in the morning, and at lunch... Our staff went over & above at all times. Our K-gr8 students were such troopers - we KNOW they had energy to burn & few opportunities to vent it - they rolled so well with the icy cold punches!! Our high school students had the normally swift walk from LTCHS & back - which surely felt like a marathon trek this week - but they handled it like rockstars. We think we all earned a big fat gold star!! Now here’s to some MUCH nicer temps (and a lot of outdoor recess) when school is back on Feb 22!!

Valentines Day may be 3 days away on the calendar but it was alllllll over the place at Gateway today. Cute crafts, yummy punch, lovey videos, and lots of giggles... the BEST way to kick off Winter Break week!!

Imagine being able to visit the campuses of 8 amazing Christian Colleges & Universities that span a distance of approx 5,500km (that’s almost literally ocean to ocean across Canada) in a simple hour!! Thank you, technology! Our CALM class students embraced this unique opportunity today. We hope you got to join at home too!

Just a reminder for all our students to check their school email accounts for messages & links to google classroom & reading groups. ... All classes for Jan 4-8 will be online, in live time, via google classroom. Please see correspondence from your homeroom teacher for your class schedule for the week. All students should be quite adept with google classroom and logging in, as all classes practised in December. For assistance, should it be needed, please contact the school office.

Today, our darling Tuesday/Thursday kinder students started their very first Christmas break! It was a super fun day!! Crafts, dancing, and stories!! Merry Christmas T/Th kinders! See you in January!

Attention High School students: Just a reminder that, at both Gateway & LTCHS, all high school classes will follow a NO FLEX schedule. In order to more confidently establish student safety and contact transmission tracking possibilities, this step has been taken. We thank you for understanding that we want to be sure we are keeping each student as safe as we can with respect to casual transmission times.

Justice Seekers: Part of the gr2 curriculum in Social Studies is learning about Canada and her provinces; Nova Scotia being on of them. The passionate students of 2S sent letters to the premier of NS regarding the current lobster fishing conflict out of their love and concern for all involved.

It was a double blessing kind of day!! Two of our school moms are part of a moms who care group and they chose to bless our staff with some wonderful homemade (gluten, meat & dairy free) soup today!! Combine that with the beautiful gift of 15 volunteer supervisors from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School for our lunch hour so all our staff could enjoy the soup while it was already warm..... WHAT A BLESSING!! We are partnered with the BEST school!! Our EAs were grea...tly appreciative for that generous kindness to allow them a break from routine! It all added up to a SOUPER day!!

Remembrance Day marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918. Now, people remember those who were lost in that war, and each war fought in years since, on this noble and worthy day. ... We are thankful for their service.
