REACH for Recovery 24.11.2020

Saturday November 28th, get dressed in your festive best. It’s official! We are holding the 11th Annual Lindsay Jolly Jog with our friends over at A Place Cal...led Home, and we are exactly one month out from the date. The event will look different from previous years, with COVID-19 safety protocols being top of mind. Jolly Joggers can either meet us at the Calvary Pentecostal Church at a pre-arranged start time for our set 5km route OR, choose to run their own self-guided 5km route on the same date. Running in the event is free, with a suggested minimum donation of $20 for those over age 16. We have also introduced a pledge system this year for those who are interested and able to help us drum up extra support! All funds raised are split between the Food Source and A Place Called Home. There will be prizes for Best Festive Dressed contests for adults, children, groups and pets, and a prize for Most Funds Raised. For more information, and to get registered visit https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/lindsay-jolly-jog-2020-registra Save that Date, Joggers, and stay tuned for more info!

Retirement announcement It is with regret but warm wishes that we announce the retirement of Executive Director Lorrie Polito, effective July 24th. Lorrie’s lea...ving marks the end of an era for A Place Called Home. She was our first employee and her vision has guided our agency for 25 years, growing our emergency shelter from the initial 5-bedroom house into the 19-bed shelter on Lindsay St. We wish Lorrie the best of luck in her future endeavours and thank her for her years of service to the homeless of the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton. Due to COVID no celebration is planned at this time.
