The trick to riding in winter is layers. The wind was a bit harsh but once we got onto the trail, it pretty much disappeared. Some playing in the pen after was pleasurable. Chip doesn't like the balls but Champ is getting way better with them. Playing with the horses help to descentize them. The next time something is blown at them or moves unexpectedly they are less likely to be alarmed. Students participating in the exercise learn to be aware as well

Spectacular ride today. Even the cowboy joined us. Jim/Clyde, Harold/Smoke, Tracy/Champ, Raven/Chip, Ruth/Ghost, Laura/Dan, Trinity/Beauty, Viki/Romeo. Rode a side trail to the island and rode the regular trail back. We stopped to take in some beautiful autumn colors and scenery.
