Hello everyone! Quick update on todays (last 24 hours) listing status on the Ottawa Real Estate Board: New Listing (37) Back On Market (6) ... Price Decrease (6) Price Increase (0) Conditional Sale (30) Sold (27) Expired (1) Leased (0) Cancelled (20) Rented (2) Suspended (3) So: the market is still very active, people! Things have changed drastically in terms of in person activities, but we still need move. Weve seen people buying properties site unseen, at full or higher than asking prices.

This is mostly about Nova Scotia, but similar things are happening here in the Ottawa region

Here a bit of an update from how I interpret my authoritative bodys comments on what "real estate agents being an essential service" really means (I would think that similar guidelines apply to many other branches these days): We were deemed an essential service, because some of us may have trades on the go and the forces that be didnt want these to be disrupted, or fall apart or clients being left without our expertise in their possibly largest investments. What they didn...t mean by that at all, was that we go out and about and conduct business as usual. ALL REALTORS should stop face-to-face business, including open houses, in-person showings, and maintaining agents and public office hours. NOW! Makes perfect sense to me. We need to take this current "situation" very seriously and do all we can to protect our family and friends (be those clients, coworkers, business partners or any other fellow earthlings for that matter) as well as ourselves. I love my job. I really enjoy when my clients fall in love with a place they will soon call their next home. But being a stand-alone (not in a team) realtor means many lonely hours of driving around to show properties and many hours in front of the computer in a home office with no other people in it. Those of you who know me a little closer know that being by myself is not anything I often care for. So, today is my first fav day in the office: Mark is right behind me, working from home for the very first time ever! I feel so lucky, getting to do the job I love with my very fav person. Weve been at it since 5am! Stay safe everyone!

Heres a little update on whats going on in our local real estate market during these crazy times: On the Ottawa Real Estate Board in the last 3 days, there have been 180 new listings, 30 properties came back on the market (could be that they had a conditional offer that fell through), there were 31 price decreases, 21 price INcreases (!), 70 conditional sales, 135 SOLDs, 16 RENTEDs. There were also 16 expired listings (ran their length of the listing without being sold), 20 cancelled listings and 22 suspended listings. Overall, that still looks like a pretty active market to me. I will get stats from previous years to compare this to, some time in the next little while. If you have any questions about this, feel free to get in touch. In the meantime, stay home and be safe!
