Do you know how much easier it is for me to do this whole sickness and NOT health bit with my very best friend in the world by my side? So much easier. In sickness AND in health was what we had promised on our wedding day. ... Health is WAY more fun, but sickness makes you treasure stuff in a weirdly wonderful way. And as the current sickness representative in our relationship, I’m so grateful that he said YES to both states. And I’m so grateful he’s been faithful to his words.

Jesus. He is such an anchor for our souls, regardless of the circumstances.

Sometimes it’s easy to feel like your creativity is out of practice. When summer first arrived it felt like we were tired of learning and just needed a break. We sat awhile longer, ate some more snacks, watched the crashing waves, and then suddenly it came to them. They then maneuvered that huge log with great difficulty for nearly 20 minutes across the beach, until they had created their very own see-saw. It wasn’t even the end product that they loved as much as the proce...ss of creating it. The process of learning how to get it from point A to point B. I sat there and watched, coached and encouraged, and really just enjoyed watching them learn a lesson in perseverance. There’s so much to learn outside of a school year, you know.

My kids are recognizing that on this earth many people suffer; and that hatred, greed, and the pursuit of power across the ages has caused a lot of pain. But they are also learning that ALL OF THIS grieves the heart of God. And if it grieves his heart, it should also grieve ours.... And they are learning that this wasn’t how the world was meant to be. And that this isn’t what heaven will look like.

We found out about the launch a few days ago, and we had been patiently waiting with our homemade straw rockets made from the NASA website. We even geared up by watched real footage of Neil Armstrong leaving his footsteps all over the moon. And while the rest of us were mesmerized, my youngest, who is apparently only familiar with colour TV yelled, Hey! Get the grey off!!
