Individuals are most commonly trafficked into forced labour, forced prostitution, and domestic servitude ... 2. Human trafficking is the 3rd most profitable criminal activity (surpassed by drugs and arms trafficking) 3. Ontario has become a major hub for HT in Canada, with most trafficked persons being local underage girls and young women 4. More than half of all reported cases of human trafficking in Canada occur in Ontario (specifically 65%). 5. Trafficker can make up to $250,000 a year per each person they exploit 6. Halton Region’s proximity of the 401 and 403 provide ease of access and transport to move trafficked persons in and out of hotels the region 7. Halton human trafficking is prevalent for a number of factors include social economic status, and little to no other crime to compete with in the region) 8. Overall risk factor is identified as simply being a girl 9. There is a difference between legitimate sex work and human trafficking/sexual exploitation 10.
