Well this weekend was one for the books. And so I think about time I re-introduced myself here. I’m Rebecca. Interior Designer, business owner, coach (for Designers, Decorators and Stagers) podcast host (Resilient by Design) and mom of two. This past weekend I said goodbye to my family cottage of almost 30 years and hit 10k followers here on Instagram . Highs and lows. What we do: I run a boutique Interior Design business in Toronto Canada. We focus on new cons...truction and complete decorating for homes and cottages in the surrounding region but we’re also hoping to expand out of the country My story: My path to design was long and winding. I was Born in a small town called Listowel in Ontario. I’ve lived in Montreal, Spain and Vancouver. I speak fluent Spanish & I worked as an actor in Vancouver. (You can hear my full story on the 1st episode of my podcast) About me: I love my jammies. I love Instagram stories. Making memories is my love language- If I won the lottery I would use the money to buy a country house to spend time with my friends and family. I love to travel. I miss travelling so much. Ending an era at my family cottage tomorrow. I’ve come up here a day early so I can meet the trucks tomorrow that are picking up the big pieces of furniture. On sleepless nights like tonight I wish I had a big soaker tub. Tomorrow I’m headed to my family cottage to pack up what remains and meet the movers first thing on Friday morning. I’m happy that I get to go alone and have some time to process and say goodbye but I’m also kind of dreading it. A hot bubble bath would be perfection right about now.

As a design firm we absolutely love working in new construction. The best part about it is we get to design every last detail and strategize with the architect and builder. In this house, we planned the decor at the same time as designing the built-ins the windows the wall panelling in the fireplace. Because you cannot designing a vacuum bring your designer on early don’t wait till your house is built to bring in your designer. The most cohesive Designs come when we work as a team from the get go.

I’m debating getting the team back into the office a few days a week. Who else is working in a collaborative environment and is back in the office?. I keep hearing mixed messages about returning to the workplace. Should I be nervous? What protocols do you have in place at your office?

My own home reno plan is on my brain every single day. I woke up late this morning after a very late night outdoor dining with my neighbors. And the thought of getting dressed and going downstairs to my dark main floor did not excite me. I struggle with wanting to have it all ( which for me would be a big house in the country with space and trees and a white picket fence ) but I also love the community of the city especially our street. So for now I’m goi...ng to make the changes I can do to my own house so that when I wake up on a Sunday morning, a little worse for wear, I look forward to getting downstairs to curl up with a cup of coffee.
