Wishing Jewish Albertans a very happy start to Chanukah today. Whether you’re celebrating virtually or with your immediate household, may this week of celebration bring you restored hope and joy, especially during a year that’s been so difficult. #happychanukah

Small businesses are the backbone of our province and we understand stronger public health measures will have an impact on small businesses in Alberta. That is why Alberta’s government has announced $500 million in financial support this week. Effective Monday, we are quadrupling the amount of funding for local job creators by increasing the amount of support available to $20,000 per business through our Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant.

Yesterday, the Alberta Government announced new measures to protect the health and safety of Albertans. These steps are not being taken lightly, but are needed to protect Albertans and capacity within the healthcare system. Yesterday, I was pleased to join the Public Sector Network’s Women in Leadership forum. I had a great conversation with conference chair, Dr. Wanda Costen, Dean, School of Business, MacEwan University. I mostly spoke about developing my own leadership style, but also answered questions about the path to where I am today and how to balance career advancement with maternity leaves and raising young children (hint - it’s all about flexibility and supportive leaders, mentors ...and teams). I hope to chat again soon!

Today is National Child Day... a day to celebrate a child’s right to be safe, healthy, have access to education and a quality standard of living. In our work at Children’s Services, and as a mother myself, I know how important it is for children to have a chance to grow and thrive in a safe environment. Each of us plays a role in protecting and supporting our youngest citizens, to ensure they are respected and have the opportunity to contribute to our future. ... #nationalchildday
