@mojojojopickles has done it again with some new pickles and preserves!! On the left we have two flavours of kimchi made with fermented napa cabbages, a milder and a spicy option. They are made with miso, which makes them vegan! And on the right are some pickled beets and pickled carrots, both with lovely garlic and dill spices!... Did you know that lots of vegetables can survive freezing? Plants like kale and Brussel sprouts can get as cold as -18C and continue growing due to natural antifreeze. When winter hits early we get cold. Ever washed greens packed in snow, not too pleasant. Our greens were harvested in the snow this week before they froze. The days (and evenings) are getting chiller the further we go into fall, so we are doing our large veggie harvest with haste!! Today we finished the patch of sunchokes, and made a good dent in the potatoes. Here’s to hoping that the cold weather won’t beat us to finishing the harvest

It’s the last day at @124grandmarket market for the year tonight, and we are so excited to end the outdoor season with a bang leading up to Thanksgiving weekend!! When people think of how brussel sprouts grow, they often think of baby cabbages on the ground (like this photo of the crazy growth of our round cabbages), when really, brussel sprouts grow on stalks like the second photo. Our brussel sprout harvest will soon be underway, just in time for Thanksgiving!

Market manager Melissa taking over insta! A huge thank you goes out to everybody that made this date night possible. My husband and I got all fancied up and were treated to an amazing 5 course dinner @vivoristorante as part of their fall harvest wine dinner, mainly because today was my day off and Ryan was working getting orders ready for tomorrow’s delivery. Vivo is an incredible example of supporting local, they have been supporting us for years, as well as other great producers like @riverbendgarden, @sundogorganicfarm, and @peas.on.earth.organic. Thank you for the support, keeping the restaurant covid-19 safe, and to everybody else that came out and joined us in the meal! Also thanks to our market friends for helping me accessorize for the night @everpressed @archive_boutique and @sugarsoulstudio

The cauliflower like to hide in the field, but we love finding the hidden gems and harvesting them for markets!! The cauliflower crop is bumpin’ so far, and even though we still have some in the field, you should go and grab some before its gone for the season!

We’re back at the @yegdtmarket today both inside and outside until 3:00pm!! Our cabbage and kohlrabi are piled high, and our stock of winter squash is stacked behind the booth ready for everybody!
