All of my life I have heard you are not like other girls/women. I spent my childhood trying to fit in, to conform. But I'm bad at faking it. Eventually I say the offbeat comment, laugh or talk too loud, say what I think even as I've been shushed. It took me a while to embrace that I fitting in when you can't be yourself is never the best option. Stop looking to others for verification that you are good, beautiful or smart. You believed you were all those thing until someone told you differently. Why should their opinion matter more than your own? Why should their opinion become your opinion of who you are?
