Here's a podcast to listen to and pass on to Cree language learners/teachers. Imagine carving out space and time where there is no English reading, writing, or speaking and no Standard Roman Orthography. Imagine thinking in #nêhiyawêwin as you learn it. Great work Hal Cameron and excellent interview, The Radicle Narrative Podcast #indigenouslanguages #decolonization
"Correcting this account of St. Paul des Métis so that Indigenous Peoples are humanized and acknowledged is necessary to build a hospitable community that accepts differences."
Advocates for C-15, including the justice minister, note that the word veto does not appear in the bill, but this is disingenuous to the point of dishonesty. The goal of C-15 is to work towards harmonizing Canadian law with UNDRIP, and the obvious meaning of FPIC is an Indigenous veto.

Five years ago today, we stood together with residential school Survivors to present the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. Canadians from all walks of life embraced the Calls to Action with a sense of urgency, purpose, and unity. Today, we are concerned by the slow and uneven pace of implementation of the Calls to Action.

"Forget history written by the victors. Cundill Prize-winning historian Camilla Townsend turned to annals kept by the Aztecs themselves to reveal a history of a vibrant, sophisticated people who valued hard word, perseverance, who were master storytellers and loved a good joke and who 500 years ago had outdoor food courts!"

Caldwell has had two claims to land in the region. The first dates to 1790, when land on the north shore of Lake Erie was surrendered to the Crown. The First Nation said this happened even though Caldwell was not a signatory nor a beneficiary to the treaty. The second occurred during the War of 1812, when Caldwell was promised retention of land at Point Pelee in return for fighting for the British. In the 1920s, they were burned out of their homes by the RCMP, a news release from the nation states.
