Following the success of the 2019 box set, In Search of Hades, Tangerine Dreams classic recordings for Virgin made between 1980 and 1983 are to be released in ...Pilots of Purple Twilight The Virgin recordings 1980 1983: a 10-CD box set, released on October 30 through UMC/EMI. Pilots Of Purple Twilight showcases the next chapter in this period of Tangerine Dreams history. The Berlin band are one of the true pioneers of electronic and ambient music, and the albums they recorded for Virgin Records between 1980 and 1983 remain classics of the genre. The new box set features newly re-mastered versions of the albums Tangram, Thief, Exit, White Eagle, Logos Live and Hyperborea along with the previously unreleased soundtrack for The Keep from the 1983 movie directed by Michael Mann, something of a holy grail for Tangerine Dream fans. All audio has been drawn from the original master tapes and has been enhanced by new stereo mixes by Ben Wiseman. Pilots Of Purple Twilight also features previously unreleased material across 4 discs, including the full concert at The Dominion Theatre, London, from November 1982. In addition, it includes 4 tracks from White Eagle and Daydream Moorland that are released for the first time on CD and digitally. Thief includes Dr. Destructo (extended version), previously only used for promotional use only. The Tangerine Dream tracks featured on the Virgin soundtrack LP for the movie Risky Business are also included in the box set, including the bands biggest streamer, Love On A Real Train and from the Virgin archive, the unreleased songs from the soundtrack to the 1982 movie The Soldier, which was scored, composed and performed by the band. Single CD editions of Tangram, Thief, Exit, White Eagle, Hyperborea and Logos Live are also set for release with the audio taken from the 2020 remasters and feature bonus tracks from the box set. A D2C edition of the box set will also be available which includes a reproduction of a rare poster. For sale: Dual 701 turntable(circa 1973-1976). Built in Germany. This is a very much-desired table from the Dual canon: This is a 2 speed automatic, and featur...es variable pitch, illuminated speed strobe, variable pitch, accurate cueing, and a heavy 6 pound platter, which makes for negligible wow and flutter. The tonearm is mounted in a 4 point low friction gimbal suspension. This excellent arm features adjustable tracking weight, anti skate, and a removable headshell which makes changing cartridges a snap! This particular unit has a few issues: 1. The strobe light seems to need replacing 2. The turntable runs, but slow. The table has been sitting idle for at least 20 years but was stored in non-smoker, clean and dry condition, so it likely needs a good oil and lube job and possibly a bit more restoration. The Dual 701 often sells between $400 and $800. Firm price of $250 as is. No shipping available due to the HEAVY weight of this item. The platter alone weighs 6 pounds. Here are a few reviews: "The Dual 701 is one of the best, if not the best, Dual turntables. Compared to the 1200 series idler drives, there are fewer Dual 701s in existence as production was limited to four years." "I have never heard a turntable at a dealers that sounded any better. Money much better spent on speakers." "The Dual 701 is a direct drive turntable. It is in fact Duals first and best direct drive. Also the platter weight is around 4.5 kg or 10 lbs (including the spindle mounted motor). The rumble figure was rated at 70DB (din b) which was very conservative. In practice this table was much quieter than most of the direct drive tables available then and certainly quieter than the idler wheel Duals." "Now you know why I prefer this model. This was the best Dual ever made! :thmbsp:" "One of the best Duals ever made and a firm classic worthy of the reverence it garners in many quarters. I love mine to bits and if all the others had to go, my 701 is the one Id elect to keep." The Feldman Lab Report in FM Guide stated: "We could detect no flutter whatsoever, and the low readings that we did get for wow were no doubt the result of using a record which was not absolutely concentric. Stereo & HiFi Times found "arm friction was lower than my capability to measure reliably. The second theme throughout the reports is the unequivocal ranking of the 701 at the pinnacle of perfection in record playback. In the following quotes, note the absence of such familiar qualifiers as "one of the" or "among the. Stereo Review: "... technical performance characteristics surpass to a greater or lesser degree those of any other integrated record player we have tested. FM Guide: "The Dual 701 is probably the smoothest acting, most rumble-free system we have ever tested. Popular Electronics: "In almost every respect, the Dual 701 surpassed just about every other record player-manual or automatic-that we have tested. High Fidelity: ..the Dual 701 has placed itself in the select group of products against which we must measure the performance of others!

A short demo on how I clean very dirty records that near more tlc than just a brush and fluid. Ive been doing this successfully for over 40 years! When youre ...done, let the record label dry for about half an hour by putting the record on a cup or glass, then put the record in a NEW sleeve to avoid re-contamination. Thanks for watching. While 9/10 people are really great about all of this, its always that one "special" person isnt it. I just had a guy completely ignore the LARGE sign right by the door handle and also ignore the bottle of hand sanitizer that you basically almost knock over when you come in(purposely placed that way so its unavoidable) So I stop him and say "Stop, could you please hand sanitize?" and he replies, "Oh yeah, Im one of those people that ignore all the rules and dont care" to which I say, "well there IS a sign on the door". He replies "well you retailers gotta keep kissing our asses to keep us happy" and I say, "I dont think so". He walks out and says "Ive never met anyone that I instantly dont like". Just another day in retail paradise....

The new reality...I know were all sick of this but needed to post our protocol. Lets keep doing our part to get rid of this thing and remember, just because things are opening up too fast(IMO), it doesnt mean its over. Remember...flu season will come and the less cases we have the better we will be at that time. Thanks for your constant support and friendship!
