You know it must be getting closer to weaning when bull calves would rather be doing this while you check them than be sucking. Manure is hauled and the silage pit is covered so that will be the next big step of the year in a few weeks.

Night one of silage is in the books! Very thankful for the amount of feed we have to gather up for the critters. The old saying "if Mother Nature provides it you will need it" has me a little concerned as to what this winter has in store if we have to feed it all..... Happy Silaging!

Happy August Long Weekend! With haying season just about a wrap and the silage coming on nicely there will be some happy full cows around here this winter! Best of luck to everyone else getting the feed yards filled up!

Too wet to hay this morning but a beautiful morning for a pasture tour! The girls were were very offended when I told them they have to put up with these big lugs for over another month yet till weaning. Thankful for all the grass and thankful to the girls still working hard and putting everything they have into their calves!
