What a nice gesture! Our Beavers and Cubs made Christmas Cards for the seniors at the Hamlets of Red Deer. They were much appreciated by their residents. Thank-you Beavers and Cubs.

As a virtual scouting activity, our Venturers are experimenting with dehydrating food for the trail. Here’s my first foray with apples, bananas, yellow peppers, and tomatoes.

As luck would have it I was working a shift at the Co-op Salvation Army Kettle and happen to have Rover Colin’s Medal of Good Servive with me when he was working his shift. So we had a brief but meaningful presentation of his award! . Congratulations Colin and thank you for everything you do for scouting!

The Venturers are going to try preparing their own dehydrated trail food as a virtual Scouting activity. Does anyone have a food dehydrator that is gathering dust that they'd like to donate/ loan for this? Send a DM to this page or contact me directly - Scouter Bruce.

It may be snowing, but the Beavers know how to stay warm! October 22nd the Beavers decorated their Halloween Pumpkins to take home! After the decorations, the Beavers invested the new Beavers, and Scouter Hawkeye (Scott) into the Beaver colony. All the Beavers received their new tails and uniform badges. It was a fun night, full of artistic work, games and ceremonies.

On a fairly regular basis Scouters go on hikes to "Scout out" new and interesting trails for the Venturers. A few days ago, Scouter Trent and I along with Rover Evan climbed Windy Point Ridge near Abraham Lake. It is a short (3.6 km return) steep (gain 656 meters) scramble (i.e using your hands). Tough in the summer, Windy Point Ridge is very challenging in winter. However, I think Vents should do this one when we're back to normal. And yes, normal is returning; we just don't know when!

On October 19th the Cubs had their first 'Winter Hike' at Heritage Ranch. We were lucky to have two nature experts, Aaron and Charlotte, who assisted with tree and plant identification, as well as help spotting animal tracks and signs.
