Thank you Calyx Floral Design for your kind and thoughtful donation today these flowers are brightening the house and our hearts!
From our house to yours, best wishes for the holiday season!
Margaret from Blackfalds quilted us a new sunflower quilt and delivered it earlier this week She did this in memory of her very dear friend who was a resident here this past year. Thank you Margaret for trusting us with your beautiful work
Thank you so much to Nancy for organizing this huge donation of turkeys from @olymel_ca! We are set for Christmas dinner and well into the new year #reddeer #reddeeralberta
As part of the #GivingTuesdayNow global movement of giving and generosity, we wanted to share this video to showcase the incredible work at Hospice and to thank our donors because as you will see, our expansion wouldn't be here without them! The risks associated with COVID-19 may have forced us to currently modify HOW we deliver quality and compassionate care but we will never compromise the care and support we provide for residents and their families. If you can, please continue to support Red Deer Hospice: https://www.reddeerhospice.com/donate1.html https://youtu.be/ot21BNFOP4Q
Thank you to Petra Kitteringham for creating this wonderful community based fundraiser and for rdnewsNOW - Everything Red Deer for sharing her story we so appreciate all of your support!
Fridays mean we can wear our Masking our Smile, Not our Spirit shirts and that makes for a great day
With Remembrance Day needing to look a bit different this year, we were thrilled to have the Berg family share their project with us! These awesome kids made us 80 poppies along with a couple great posters to fill our windows and front entry. Thank you #canadaremembers #community
We received this lovely poem from a resident family member not long ago. Not only did we love receiving it, it also made us think of our volunteers and all the people who work together to make Hospice such a special place!
Thank you @first_steps_and_beyond for showing us what Christmas is all about! Their preschool to grade 3 classes made Christmas cards for residents to open Christmas morning as part of an art project to spread Christmas cheer. Thank you students!
Thank you to Green Drop for donating their time and talents to hang our Christmas lights this morning! We could all use a little extra Christmas cheer this year #reddeer #community
Thank you Troubled Monk for the gift of hand sanitizer, it is a huge help to our organization and keeping our community safe #reddeer #reddeeralberta #community
When a resident passes away, we hang an angel in their name in the window; if they leave the Hospice, and their journey continues elsewhere, we hang a butterfly. Every year, staff hang all these angels and butterflies on the Christmas tree in the sanctuary and during a special ceremony, we reflect on those who came through Hospice over the previous year. Due to COVID-19 restrictions in place, we unfortunately cannot welcome resident families to come in and view the tree. Please let us know if you would like a photo of your resident’s angel and we will happily share it with you.
Our Fall Newsletter hit mailboxes and inboxes this past week! If you missed out, get signed up here: https://www.reddeerhospice.com/newsletter-signup.html
Grief is difficult at any time of the year, and for many the loss of a loved one is keenly felt during the holidays. Typically at this time of year we would be gathering together to discuss the grief journey and the added challenges that can come with the holiday season. As current guidelines in place prevent us from getting together in person, we have created a short video, we hope it is a valuable resource for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9iItnoQ3qI&feature=youtu.be
On this grey and chilly Monday morning, we wanted to share a couple pictures of our memorial garden when Fall was at its best! Our park would not be what it is with our partnership with the The City of Red Deer. The City of Red Deer completed a new fountain and many upgrades in the memorial garden. Two new park signs fabricated, upgraded benches, improved bridges, fixed the paths, plus a new garbage can. Thank you for these improvements! The park is loved by all
