Please click on the attached link for more details for the Alberta Student Illness Guide: https://open.alberta.ca///edu-covid-19-student-illness.pdf It’s important for you to know: If a child has chills, painful swallowing, stuffy nose, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, gastro issues, loss of smell or taste, pink eye they must remain home until their symptoms resolve. After they are feeling better they are welcome to return to school.... For fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat students are legally required to isolate for 10 days from the start of symptoms. Now there is a way to shorten this time have a negative test. If a child is tested and it returns negative they are welcome back into school once they’re feeling better. So no test = at least 10 days. Negative test = feeling better, come back to school. Parents, please direct all questions regarding the above link or information in it to Mrs. Culbert, our principal, or Ms. Burrows our Vice-principal by calling 403-938-5984.

Update on the 2020-2021 School Relaunch Plan from Superintendent Chris Fuzessy https://youtu.be/sOFDk1duHd4

Red Deer Lake School 09.07.2020

All FSD families were emailed this morning with an update from Chris Fuzessy with regards to the 2020-2021 School Relaunch Plan. The school division is looking ...for feedback from EVERYONE in the form of a Thought Exchange. Please take some time to complete the questions. The link can be found here: https://my.thoughtexchange.com/640156223 It is so important that we take this time to support the division in its plan to relaunch school in the fall. Please also encourage your other RDL friends and family to take the time to complete the exchange. We hope you are all doing well!

Red Deer Lake School 17.06.2020

RDL Parents/Guardians, We miss you and your children! Thank you for your ongoing support as we navigate the learning at home. We know that our best path forward includes communication and flexibility, and we appreciate working together on this! With recent increases in COVID cases in our school division, we are looking at our practices to ensure that safety is as much a priority as the continuity of learning. In that regard, any print material that is being sent home on Mo...ndays, will have sat for 5 days of quarantine before you pick it up. The labeled envelopes will be placed outside of the school in order to reduce the number of people entering the building. If you are unable to pick up your materials on Mondays, please phone the school to let us know when to expect you; your print envelope will be brought outside at that time. If you no longer require the weekly packages, please email your childs homeroom teacher. Again, if there is anything we can do to support you and your family at this time, please let us know. We are here for you! Shannon Culbert Principal - Red Deer Lake School 403-938-5984 ext 21101

We miss our DRAGONS! Stay safe.

Red Deer Lake School 08.05.2020

Good evening, Dragon Families! We are missing you and hope that you are all doing well. The following is todays update. We expect the daily updates will subside once the Learning Plan starts on Monday!... We have organized times for you to come pick up some of your childs/childrens belongings and supplies, in particular, those that will be needed next week when the official learning plans get sent home. Monday, March 23rd is our main pick-up day, as well as the day we will send home learning plans. We chose this day so that you only have to come to the school once next week. We know teachers are organizing who will need print materials and who is fine to do the bulk of their learning online and/or using a printer at home. When picking up your childs/childrens items, we suggest that you bring an empty bag (visualize Sobeys reusable grocery bag) or backpack for the items. Please note: If you are having to self-isolate due to travel or illness, please DO NOT come to the school; we are happy to arrange an alternative time with you, and could even drop off items on your doorstep. We are following AHS recommendations regarding large groups, therefore we are asking parents of our younger Dragons (K-gr 5), to come into the school without your children. If need be, you are welcome to pull up to the school, call us, and we will bring your items out to you. For example, if you have an infant with you, please call the school upon arrival. Our gr 6-9 Dragons will need to access their lockers, so they are welcome to come into the school, without parents, in order to keep our numbers down. We apologize because it goes against every fibre of our being NOT to be inviting and inclusive of EVERY Dragon family member, but we do have to keep everyones health and safety in the forefront of our minds and actions. Mrs. Davies does NOT want you to return any books that you are continuing to enjoy! If there is a novel or two that your child would like to read OR that you would like to read to your child, please email Mrs. Davies to get the book(s) ready, and/or stop by the Learning Commons. The pick-up schedule, noted below, may not work for your family. If that is the case, please reply to this email to coordinate a time that does work. Surname starts with Monday, March 23rd A 8:30 9:00 B 9:00 - 9:30 C 9:30 10:00 D 10:00 -10:30 E & F 10:30 11:00 G 11:00 11:30 H 11:30 12:00 I & J & K 12:00 12:30 L 12:30 -1:00 M 1:00 1:30 N & O & P 1:30 2:00 R 2:00 2:30 S 2:30 3:00 T & V & Y & Z 3:00 3:30 W 3:30 4:00 As always, please feel free to contact us (teachers and Admin) with questions and concerns. We thank you for your trust and patience as we navigate through this. Shannon Culbert & Judy Leyden Admin Team - Red Deer Lake School 403-938-5984 ext 21101 & 21102

Red Deer Lake School 03.05.2020

Good afternoon Red Deer Lake Families, We hope all is well with everyone. We are missing the hustle and bustle of having students, parents, and volunteers in the building. We care deeply about all of you, and we will communicate regularly to keep you updated on how learning will look in the coming days. RDL is still your community, where people come together to learn, build lasting relationships, and create an empathetic community. While that will look different over the cou...rse of the next few months, we are committed to you and your family. The following is some information regarding what is coming up in the near future, as well as some supports available. Although the Government of Alberta has made the decision to close all K-12 classrooms indefinitely, our students are still "ours", and we are busy at work preparing lessons and resources to share with you next week. At this point, we are spending our days developing plans for your child/childrens learning, and we will forward more specific information to you on Monday, March 23. Your childs teacher will be updating you throughout this process, in addition to emails from administration, and our website https://reddeerlake.fsd38.ab.ca/ Please check your email, and the website for more updates and communication. Additional supports for families are also available on the FSD webpage. If you go to the Parents Link, and then click on the Parent Learning Link, there are resources for families including: how to talk to your children about COVID-19, the importance of structuring your day, as well as Mental Wellness Supports. Tomorrow, we will be sending information about how you can stop by and pick up your child/children's materials that they will need for learning. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you for trusting in our school, and for your support as we maneuver through these unprecedented times. We really miss all of our RDL families and students, and wish you all the best during this unique situation. Thank you again for your support during these evolving times, Shannon Culbert & Judy Leyden Admin Team Red Deer Lake School

Please take action and help our Changemakers club make this season brighter (and warmer) for the homeless of Calgary. In winter, its essential for men and women to have fresh socks. They also need hygiene items and other supplies to make this time of year a bit easier to manage. How to help: Purchase a pair of warm socks and fill each sock with these items: Nail clippers (new), shampoo/conditioner (travel size), lotion/body wash/hand cream (travel size), good qualit...y razors/shaving gel (travel size), hand and foot warmers, travel-size tissue, bandaids, lip balm, earplugs, comb or small brush, deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, mens briefs (new) - extra pairs are very appreciated, extra pair of warm socks, transit tickets, candy, $10 gift cards for coffee, movies, or food. Please put the socks together in a small bag (preferably a gift bag) and bring it to Ms. Hamids room (150) before December 17th. We will deliver your gifts to The Mustardseed in time for Christmas. Thank you so much for helping make a change in the world. See more
