First pulled pork of the year! A Winter and Fall staple in our house . .. . New recipe sent to us by a very good friend from down south - she's a fellow redhead and shares my love of
The kid crop so far! Very happy to have a high doeling percentage! These girls will be joining our program in a couple years! #kidwatch2022
Day 7 of #kidwatch2022 Zac was a bit off in his estimation and Thor, our yearling Buck took his sweet time apparently... still most of the herd to go! This year we are trialing a new barn set up, with a communal maternity pen instead of individual spaces. So far so good!
Merry Christmas!!!!
Help us connect to more people! Do you have family members who love pork? Share this post! Facebook has long ago decided that selling our farm products direct to consumers goes against their "commerce policy". Our pork, beef and goat is processed at licenced facilities and passes rigorous inspection for direct sale to consumers in Alberta. Our family prides ourselves on keeping our animals happy, well cared for and safe. Which results in providing a top quality product to all... of our clients and their families! We have 6 pork halves left to sell - from now until January 15 (or until we sell out!) we are offering $50 off each half and $25 off each quarter! If you bring a client to us and they receive this deal, we will also give YOU $25 or $50 off a pre-order of a quarter or half in 2022!
Our Livestock Guardian Dogs are such an important part of the farm. The coyotes are starting to push in and these two are pushing back! Raggs is growing into his role here nicely - at 10 months he is already wanting to take on pack leadership and adding a level of discernment we haven't witnessed before with the girls. Some things need barking/warning and some threats need to be chased off, but nothing needs to be pursued father than our property line and no dog needs to bark for eternity to get the point across. We couldn't have asked for a better addition to our team!
Mom (right) and Daughter (middle) settling into winter! Strong genes in these two! Looking forward to the grandkids in January

The goats do a great job of exposing what was left from previous owners. All was hidden under grass/ brush. Which leads to nap time!

Waaaaay back in March we brought this wild and sweet little Border Collie home! Everyone meet Abby! We knew nothing about training herding dogs and so after a quick 6 weeks with us, she spent 2 months at a trainers learning how and when to work as well as breaking a few bad habits. Abby is an amazing addition to our work force and we look forward to many years of having her help around the farm!...
The kids are growing fast!
Anything to get those tasty leaves and not step in water!
The goats can bring down trees their size. Goats are great for sapling clean-up post mulching or cut line clearing.
First group of boys weaned today. Out of sight and out of hearing range is the method that works for us
Thinning out some trees in a pasture, it's amazing how the goats attack the poplar trees
First Asparagus harvest!
And just like that they are out to pasture!
Goat on roof, sorta
